anorexia nervosa

I was wondering something. I have been talking to someone (a friend out of state) who used to be anorexic. I am not talking under a hundred pounds or anything, but she did have lots of anorexic tendancies such as starvation and laxitave abuse. Well to make a long story short, she over the years packed on the pounds and I just heard from her and she had gastric bypass (RNY). I wondered how she passed the psych exam and she said that it was not required for her to have one. this leads me to believe that she never told the doctor about her eating disorder. I am wondering if her anorexic tendancies are likely to come back because of this surgery and what to do about it and what to watch for. She is moving back to michigan and she is 6 weeks out from her surgery. Any help you can give would be great. I am just so surprised that she had it done. Now, whats done is done all we can do now is worry.

Hi Jennifer, Worrying won't change anything. All that will do is make you upset. I do find it odd that she didn't have a phych eval. I thought that was required at the federal level, not the state level. God bless you, Annette
