Hi Everyone, I have a question for the Henry Ford post ops. How long was it after your WLS before you received your bill? I have Health Plus of Michigan insurance and they were suppose to cover all but $1500 of it. The $1500 is my copay and my out of pocket expence. I have only received a bill for the telephone in my room and a bill for the paper work (filling fee I guess). I was just wondering how long it usually takes before I would receive my BIG bill. Thanks for your help!!!!!!!! Jennifer V.

Hi Jen, It was about 3 months for me, as I recall. I guess you could always call....scary, I know! My co-pay was 1200.00, which I am not complaining about....at least I didn't have to pay the whole thing! Theresa

About the time EVERYTHING went thru it was probably a couple of months. I owed about $1000 (which my mom so very generously paid for me as a Christmas present! ) Make sure you go over everything!!

This didn't have to be paid up front? I thought they made you pay your copay prior to surgery? Wonder if they let you make payments on it?

Jennifer, Would you believe it took 18 months!! Mine was back in 2004, though. When my husband had his in 6/05 he had to pay it up front. I decided since it took them that long to bill me, I was going to take that long to pay them Kathie

I had HAP and Medicare, so most of the bill was taken care of. I did have to pay $200.00 for the four hour consult, and I was plesantly surprised that I didn't have to pay for the exercise guy or my psych eval. I did get an itemized list because someone wants to charge me for something that was not billed during my hospital stay. NO BILL, NO PAY....
