3 weeks and 2 days post op . Stricture problems had to have scope.

I had surgery at Bi-County on 2/21/2006. First on 3/1/06 a week after surgery I had a blood clot scare then that night I slipped in the ice storm and fell flat on my stoma*****ision and 28 staples. Then I had stapels removed 3/6/06 and was told to start stage four pureed foods. I tried 9 times and every time I was choking could not get any air, and felt like some one was stabbing me front in the chest and in the back. I read my manual (can never get on line parents hog pc and only have one hooked up to cable line) So I couldnt ask all of you wonderful people. So I went all last week til this monday. I tried to eat mashed brocholi and cauliflower and that was the final straw I paged dr pesta and he said to try one more time and then wed morn call his office if I cant eat he said it was just a little soon for some people. Well I didnt eat mon couldnt even drink water on tuesday and I thought maybe I was getting sick (flu) then wed morning Pesta's office told me to go to er for and er scope and that I may have a stricture and my stoma may have closed up. I had the scope and they put three balloons in. HAS ANYONE HAD THIS PROBLEM THEY TOLD ME IT WAS COMMON AND I MAY HAVE TO COME BACK AGAIN FOR ANOTHER BALLOON / SCOPE PROCEDURE. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT HAPPEN AND AM I OK??? ARE THEY LIEING? I AM SCARED. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO OAT RUNNY OAT MEAL , MY FIRST BLENDED WENDY'S CHILI 4OZ AND THREE 4 OZ CUPS OF PROTEIN. AM I OK NOW???? Hi Angie, I am 4 months out today. Strictures are becoming a little less common, but they do still occur. I had my first one at 6 weeks out. They stretched me to a 9. My second one was about 7 weeks later (just a couple of weeeks ago). They stretched me to a 12 this time. Will I get another one?Maybe, maybe not. The good news is now that you know what it feels like, you won't wait so long to get an EGD. Don't worry about it you are fine. These thing's happen. I understand it's caused from scar tissue building up. I know a couple of people that have 5 of them. Hope this helps. Your Dr's. have no reason to be dishonest with you, they want to help. Hi Angie You are gonna be just fine...I didn't have strictures, but hear of them often. Some people have to go through many scopes to open it up, but there will be an end to it. Just make sure to keep your surgeon informed of any problems and he should be able to catch it pretty quick. Don't go days without eating before you let him know. You are doing great on the weight loss, keep up the good work. hugs Linda 360/168/?
