ok, I am 10 days post-op and I am still on liquids only. I am getting in the required liquids and such as well. I lost 15 lbs in the first week, but I havent lost anything in the last 3 days. Shouldnt I be losing something everyday since my caloric intake is less than what I need for my daily activities? I'm confused.

Number one Stay off the scale, your body has gone through major surgery it will do strange things in the beginning... the scale will become your biggest nightmare if you are weighing yourself daily.. Believe me Been there done that . I finally had my hubby hide it from me because I would get so depressed about not losing a pound or a half of a pound. the surgery will work it has for many people. With that said... You are doing great already!!! remember how long it would have taken you to lose 15 lbs before surgery. it will come off just give your body time to heal... I know its hard we want it to hurry up and fall off... I am 3 months post op and have lost 59.5 lbs but I am greedy and want more.. I weigh myself 2 times a week and thats probebly too much. You will do great just focus on Walk walk walk, sip sip sip for now! (((HUGS))) Dori

I agree! hide the scale. i never owned a scale till after surgery and weighing yourself becomes an obsession. i am 3 months post op and have lost 70 lbs. i was at a plateau and was weighing myself everyday and got very depressed. i also made my husband hide the scale.......good luck to you.....keep up the liquids......

No scale here either! I haven't been on a scale since I had a Dr's appointment on the 1st. I'm going back to work today and will weigh myself there, but I've vowed to only weigh myself every 2 weeks... believe me, it makes for a happy surprise when you wait!

I agree with the others, do yourself a favor and throw away the scale, at least until you get close to your goal. Back in the beginning I only weighed in once a week. I do weigh myself everyday now to make sure I am maintaining. The scale will only drive you nuts in the beginning if you try to weigh every day. You are doing great so try and relax. Take care---Toni

I feel your pain!! I am just 3 weeks out and the 1st week I lost 13 lbs. Second week apt. I gained 2 lbs!!! I was like, there is no way! How can I gain weight when I'm not eating anything solid!! I have been weighing myself everyday (and yes, I'm giving my scale to my parents to keep at their house! today!!). Then I finally dropped the 2 lbs I re-gained plus another so I am down 15 lbs. I think that is really slow, I've been walking, but not getting in the water I would like. So like all the vetrans said........it works, we just have to be patient. Good luck and keep your chin up! Forget the scale, it will move up and down with fluids in your body especially certain "times of the month". Take your measurements and only weight (at the most) once a week. That daily stuff is not what you should be even THINKING about. It would be better to only weigh on your appointments, actually. Their scale is better than our home ones. 15 lbs in 10 days, don't beat yourself up, you;re doing fine. Forget that stinking scale! Love, Pam

Thanks for the help you guys, you have put my mind at ease. Since you are all in agreement, I have no other choice than to put the scale away.

Thank You Jennifer Teddy for asking this question I am three weeks post op and I have lost 36 lbs and I weigh my self two or three times a week and it does make me up set. I want this weight off so bad I want to my back and knee to feel better so I can walk. I am going to have my mom hide the scale first thing tommorow and only give it to me once a week. My mom is a tough cookie I owe my 36lbs to Dr. Pesta performing surgery and her she helps me stay on track. But I am having tryouble getting water in. thanks for the post it helped me understand why i am going crazy! Good Luck to you Your are doing fabulous!!! Angie
