Hi Everyone, I have myself really worried about losing so slow and I also am constantly worried about NOT losing anymore. I keep thinking that this is going to be another failer. Now, don't get me wrong I am thrilled about the weight I have lost so far but I just can't seem to shake the fear of the weight loss stopping. So far I have lost 49 pounds since a week before surgery (11-22-05) and have lost a total of 67 pounds since around September. I still have about 60 more pounds to lose for my own personal goal is met. I had my 3 month check up on Feb. 22, 2006 and I was told then that I am losing at a good rate. I am just so worried it is always on my mind. I am also addicted to the scale, I weigh myself everyday and I know I shouldn't but I still do. I am so happy for everyone losing so quikly but I can't help getting discourage because I am losing so much slowly. Is there anyone else out there that lost at a slower rate? At this point any words of encouragement would be so appreciated. I didn't go through a year of sweat and tears, ups and downs, in and outs with the insurance company to NOT lose 100% of my extra weight. Thanks in advance for your help and also a thanks for all your help in the past. You guys are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your WLS Friend, Jennifer V.

Jennifer, You have to remember that everyone loses at a different rate. I too lost slowly. I am one year out and have lost 101 pounds, I still have another 30 to go for my own personal goal. So really you are losing at a good rate. You need to put the scale away and not weigh yourself daily. I did that in the beginning, but have since stopped as it also made me frustrated. You just need to eat the proper diet and drink your fluids that is the most important part along with exercise. Keep up the good work. Brenda

Jennifer, This is common among all of us. We have all failed so much in the past that we obsess on the scale. I have been feeling frustrated lately because I have such a long way to goal yet to go. But I am not afraid anymore about losing. It is coming off, very slowly now, about 6-7 lbs a month, but the scale is still going down so I am happy with that. It is frustrating and I am right there with you. I still wish that I could acheive goal overnight, but it ain't gonna happen! So relax and keep doing the right thing and we will get there eventually. Jennifer~ I SOOOO feel your pain and frustration!!! I feel like I'm losing SOOO much slower than most everyone else!! I am 6 1/2 months out and have lost 75lbs, for which I'm SOOOO thankful!! But it still seems that it is just coming off so dang slow!! My dr. says it's absolutely fine...I average about 10lbs a month!! I, too, weigh myself every morning and it is the stupidest thing we could be doing!!! At one point, my hubby took the scale away from me but we've been having issues with our youngest daughter losing weight when she can't afford to lose weight so we've had to monitor her weight, which means we needed the scale handy!! Now I'm a slave to the scale every morning too!!! I'm SOOOO afraid at failing at this, just chalk it up to all of my other failures in dieting!! We can do this Jennifer!!! We both need to stay off the scale, make sure we are eating properly, get in our necessary amounts of water and take our vitamins!!! Let's make a deal with each other that we ARE going to be successful and we are going to TRY to not let the scale rule our lives!!!!!! Sound like a plan?? Hugs, Cheryl 260/185/130

I too think I have an obsession with the scale! I got to a high of 235 in November 2004, was 223 for my last weigh in before surgery on September 15, 2005 and today I am 158. I the first time I gained weight, and I'm not talking right after I got home from the hospital either! Then it was going between 2 lbs for about 3 weeks! However, I realized that muscle does weigh more that fat, so I settled down. My weight loss has slowed down to about a pound a week, and if I can lose to 130 lbs, then I will be for joy! When I do weigh, I do it first thing in the morning, after I have used the and before I eat.

Hi Jennifer, You are doing great! Sometimes it may seem like you are losing so slow, but in reality, you are losing pretty well. You have lost almost 70#'s in just under 5 months. That is awesome! I find that for me the scale causes me to much stress. I only weigh myself when I go to the support meetings at H.F.H. twice a month. When I do it like that, it usually will show a pretty good loss. Try to stay off of the scale on a daily basis unless you are trying to maintain your weight. For a while there I was worried that I wouldn't lose any more weight, but I did, and you will too. I think it's natural to think like that, because we have had so many failed diet attempts. Try to remember, as long as you follow the rules of the pouch, you cannot fail. If you (we) do not follow the rules then you (we) have a good chance of failure. So follow the rules and you will be fine. Remember to look at all of your accomplishments along the way. Did you take your measurement's? Try taking them once a month. It's amazing how much they can change after a month. Are you exercising? When I started exercising that's when the pound's started falling off. It's incredible what exercise can do for weight loss. If you are exercising change it up a little bit, do one routine every other day, and something different on alternating days. You can do this Jennifer. I know you can . Did you get the E-mail I sent you a week or so ago? God bless you, Annette

Hi Annette, How are you doing? Thank so much for your kind words, I really appreciate it. Your picture looks so nice!!!!!!! I agree I do need to stay off that scale for a while. I did get the email about the skating party. I am not sure if that is the one you are talking about or not. I am sorry that I wont be able to make it to the party cause it is such a distance for me. I hope you all have a wonderful time!!!! Thanks again, Jennifer V.
