First Visit Waiting for Sugery

Hello All! I have my psych eval the 14th, smoke free the 25th and then I should know when my surgery will be scheduled. I have to have the Greenfield Filter first. I think I'm more worried about that than the RNY itself. I hope to talk with many of you in the future.

HI Mary, Welcome to the OH board! Most here are basically a nice bunch of people, but then again, there ARE a few idiots, same as anywhere else!! The greenfield filter was a breeze, u are given demerol for pain and versed for twilight sleep. It is over before you know you had it done!! I had mine at Harper with Dr Talbot and was only in recovery until I ate some crackers & had some juice. I think each dr is different. Who is your doctor? I had Schuhknecht who was with CORI then, he now has his own practice with Dr Kole in Warren. Hes is an excellent Dr. Most are. Each one of us thinks thier doctor is the best, basically because they have given us our life back. Good luck to you with everything. Take care & God Bless De

Well De, we are in the same neck of the woods (Flint). I will be having Dr. Kole as my surgeon, I felt very comfortable with him during my consult. That always means a lot. My surgery will be at Harper as well. Hope we have an opportunity to meet at some point. Perhaps you know if there are regular chat times? Thank you for answering so quickly, by the way. Mary

Hi Mary Welcome to our big happy family . Feel free to post anytime you want, we are all here to help you get through this. I had the greenfield filter done, it was nothing! They can give you a local anesthesia if you want, but i didn't cause i didn't want to wait the extra time to go home...the worst part of it for me was having to lay down for two hours after they finished. So don't be afraid, it's probably the easiest part of the whole journey. Hugs Linda
