Hello, I just had to quickly share some news. I am approved for surgery by blue cross! I never thought this day would come. Dr. Marshall wants to do another quick consult since I haven't seen him since October. I'm going at 12:30 today and am told they should be able to set up my appointment to get my filter put in and book a surgery date. I just don't even know what to do with myself right now. I'm so happy, but can't stop crying. I had my EGD done yesterday and Dr. Marshall said all looks good and he doesn't see anything going on in my stomach that would complicate the surgery. He is just the most wonderful man. He spent about 20 minutes after the procedure talking to my Mom and I answering questions and talking about the surgery, what I can do to prepare, etc. He wants me to go on a diet to try to lose a bit before surgery. He said even 15-20 pounds will help. He is more wanting to shrink my liver than for me to lose weight, but that would be a bonus. I'm going to do 2 protien drinks a day and a sensible dinner. Any suggestions on what drinks to buy? He mentioned something low sugar, I think Slim fast ultra? Thanks for all your prayers and support. I hope to post later today with a surgery date. Make room for me on the loser's bench!! God Bless you all! Shari

Congratulations Shari I remember when I finally got my approval, I was so happy and full of emotions, I cried too. This is the best thing you could ever do for your health. I don't regret one moment of this surgery. I am alive again. Saving you a spot on the loser's bench. God bless you Annette 378/245/???

Yeah Shari...you are on your way!!!! For me, the only protein drink I can really seem to tolerate is the Atkins chocolate...there are two chocolates and to me they are both fine but the Royale is better...if you are a chocolate lover!!! Everyone has different tastes though so it truly is a personal preference!! You are right, Dr. Marshall is wonderful!!! Can't wait to find out your surgery date!!! We are all rootin' for ya!!! Hugs, Cheryl

where is dr marshall? I am thinking about changing surgeons to someone closer to me than Dr. Wood. I am in Paw Paw, MI, near Kalamazoo. Any suggestions? Thanks, Janet

I am so happy you got it worked out. I love both Dr. Pesta and DR. Marshall they are the two best doc's I have ever met. They really care about their patients. Ok call me I am dying to know when you date is. And dont be worried about the filter I had it done DR Schulman is another awesome and funny doctor.
