I know that we vowed to never drink again after WLS, however I know that everyone doesn't obey the rules. I have heard people talk about what they have had over the weekend while they were out on the town, and I am wondering what sort of drinks a person has after WLS? I am way to early out to even be thinking about it, however...a girl can think can't she!!! We are going away this weekend and everyone will be drinking but myself. I will be the DD!!!! Thanks! I'll have another!! Some people can tolerate low carb beer if the bubbles are stirred out. I can handle a screwdriver with low sugar OJ. Bets to stay away from FooFoo drinks with sugar. I got my guests hammered on pina coolatas and margaritas! None for me. kp @ sloshed

i dealt with two different bariatric centers and have been to support groups from four different centers and was never told that we can never again have alcohol. i guess everyone's program is different. i sometimes drink a little wine or a mojito (with splenda not sugar). i love the mojitos. they have white rum, lime, mint, splenda and a little club soda.

Hi Heather - When I go out I drink Rum with 1/2 diet coke & 1/2 water. ( the water dilutes the carbonation ) You will have to experiment with what will agree with you. I would avoid sugary drinks and a lot of carbonation bothered me. Keep in mind the alcohol will effect you much easier/faster. Geri 261/183/140

Well, all I can say is EVERYONE is different. I don't dump and have been able to eat pretty much anything I want. However, I still adhere to the rules. I don't eat much sugar. I don't even keep it in the house. I'm not a big drinker, even before surgery. However, I do have a couple glasses of wine some weekends. When, and if, you decide to drink, you should "test" it at home before you drink while you are "out". About two glasses of wine is all I can handle. I've even passed out, at home, after two glasses. So I try not to pu**** At a restaurant, I've had a strawberry daquiri, but that didn't do much for me...LOL! So, my advice is to take it slow and test the waters before you drink away from home.
