I have asked for PCP recommendations before, but I will be moving in the next 3.5 months and will need to find a new physician. I currently have HAP, but I'll consider all recommendations whether or not they accept my insurance. Ive been informed that my best bet at this point is to start working on the 12 month documentation period HAP requires. I was told by the surgery coordinator and physician at the hospital where Im employed that you do NOT have to join a particular program, but you do have to see your PCP no less than once every three months, get weighed, and doctor has to document your diet efforts, behavior modifications, and exercise endeavors. Supposedly, once you have seen them for 12 months, no less than 4 visits during that year, you have fulfilled the requirement and they can no longer deny you based on that requirement. Yipeee. I have no problem with doing the 12 months. I figured I would have to, but I still think HAP will find other ways to get out of paying. There are more details about the situation in my profile if anyone is interested. Anway, all doctor recommendations would be appreciated.

Taylor Clinic PC on Telegraph and Wick. Dr. Slaim and his son have been treating our family since we were babies. He has watched, supported, and done all of the papaerwork for mine, my husbands, my aunts, and two of my cousins surgery. John is the son and would recommend him. I have no idea if they take HAP. The number is (313) 295-3388. I know they are very busy and Dr. John is in high demand. You will probably have a wait for an appointment. Good Luck!!!

not sure where you're moving to but some big a-hole on the board recommended Dr. Weitz in Oxford for me when i moved here, it's a bit of a drive from where i live but well worth it, he's a great doctor with a great staff and they get me in for appointments immediately with no wait. i'm on my way to see him in a few minutes as a matter of fact. He's VERY thorough and has been helping me with quite a few issues. He's also a great guy with a wonderful personality. His staff is always on the ball too. I'm really impressed with him and his entire setup. he's experienced with WLS patients and VERY supportive of the surgery.
