My surgery date is less than 30 days away. I have several of my "maintainance" drugs that will need to be refilled this week. I usually get thee months at a time. I was wondering how soon after surgery some of the drugs were discontinued. Diabetes Drugs - Glucophage XR, Starlix and Byetta. Both Starlix and Byetta are taken before meals to prevent highs after eating. Hyperlipemic drugs - Pravachol and Tricor Blood Pressure - Verapamil Anyone have any history with these drugs? Jeanne

I was on the verapamil and I was sent home without any meds for my high blood pressure. I was done with it the date of my surgery. I am not sure about the rest of them. Suzanne 300/153/150

Hi Jeanne, I'm so happy for you that your date is getting so close. I was not on any meds before surgery but my hubby just had his a month ago and he was on diabetes and cholesteral and high blood pressure drugs. He is off all of them since surgery day and is only on neurontin and celebrex now. My daughter got off insulin the day of surgery and HBP meds within a month. But check with your surgeon to be sure.

Thanks Michelle, I think that I will only get them filled for a month. I'd hate to have the insurance company pay for extra meds I can always get them refilled if I need to. When I did the liquid diet they stopped the diabetes meds as soon as I started the diet. I wasn't on the Cholesterol meds then, I don't think. Jeanne
