A plug for a restaurant
Just wanted to spread the word...the new restaurant on the corner of 14 & Utica in Fraser...Hu Hot (I think that's how it's spelled) was VERY accommodating for me tonight!! My husband didn't want me to say anything to anyone to try and get the kid's price, he just wanted me to share with my daughter but I told him that I felt it was important for us bariatrics to get the word out there so that restaurants will be more accomodating to WLS people, then he agreed!!! So I asked the waitress if I could just share with my daughter because I had bariatric surgery and I'll NEVER eat $12.00 worth of food (plus it's all you can eat) and she did us one better and just charged us for TWO kids meals and saved us even more money!!!! Yeah!!!! I was so thrilled...and the food was SOOOO good!! Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff!!! I give this new restaurant a big thumbs up and highly recommend it!!!
She did ask if I had a card on me cuz she just had a WLS guest in last week so she knew about the card, and I told her no but I could show her my scar!!! LOL!! She said that was fine, she believed me!!! I've never been asked for my card so didn't think I realy needed to carry it with me, but now I think I will...just in case!!!
Just thought I'd share!!!

Cheryl
Hi Beth...I got cards from Liv-Lite when I had my surgery that said something to the effect that I have had bariatric surgery so could you please let me order from the kids menu...or something like that...I can't remember exactly what it says and to be honest with you, I'm not even sure exactly where it is at!!! But I do recall seeing one at one of the links through OH that was very similar...it's just a more private way to let the restaurant know that you need smaller portions and possibly some other "special" accommodations!!
Do you ever ask to eat from the kids menu? I've never had anyone ever tell me no before, but I'm sure there are restaurants out there that STICK to those age limits for the kids menu!!! This new restaurant is 10 & under eat at a cheaper price and my daughter is 12 (and looks every bit her age) and we BOTH got to eat for the cheaper price!! It was an all around very good experience!!!
Hugs,
Cheryl
I have used my card before. I also like to eat at Outback and get their kid's steak. Some of the Outbacks like to charge me $2.00 extra because I am an adult but sometimes they will not. I think it depends on the waitress or waiter at the restaurant. The worse place to go was Zehnders in Frankenmuth. They would not let me order the kid's chicken dinner. There is no way I can eat 20 bucks worth of food. Plus we cannot take it home.
Thanks for sharing a new restaurant with us. What kind of food do they serve?

That's good to know about Zehnders not being very accommodating!! Makes me not want to go there for sure!!!
Have you ever been to Mongolian BarBQ? This restaurant is exactly like that...you go through the buffet of food and fill your bowl with the raw meats, vegetables, noodles and sauces that you want, then stand in line and watch them cook your food!! It's very yummy and you get to pick what you want and how much you want and then you can always go back for more!! I think this new place is cheaper than mongolian barbq is!! Kids 3 & under are free, 10 & under are $3.99 (which is what she charged me for) and adults are $11.99!! And that comes with a small salad, a bowl of rice and tortilla wraps!!
It was well worth it!!
Suzanne,
Quite awhile ago I wrote to Zehnders and explained about my surgery. This was my reply:
I will certainly let you order off the childrens menu. Just print this
email if you can and give it to your server. If you don't have a printer
just tell them my name, and what I wrote you.

Maybe this will help you in the future...or maybe this manager doesn't work there anymore. I love Zehnders, I hope that they will accomodate you in the future.

Is there a number to the MMPC? I don't even know what that stands for, but if anyone can get the card, I will call. I have a card that shows the procedure (RNY) on the card, but the servers are like, what is this?! Then I feel DUMB!!! But, my mom had surgery at the Barix Clinic about 6 yrs ago and she got the card that your talking about that says that you can't eat big portions, and so on. But the card that I was given doesn't and I think that it would be easier to have a card like that to specify that we need smaller portions. If you can get me a number to that place, that would be awesome. Thanks!
