Hello all, my name is Kim and I am from Flint. I am 34 years old and married to Matt and have to great kids Hailey is 7 and Dylan is 2. I am going today for a consultation with Dr. Dabideen (sp?) and on March 1 I will be going for my psych evaluation. I am really nervous that even after the Dr. approves it and all that the insurance company is not going to corporate. I am 5'4" and about 315# so I know i definately need to something. My insurance is a ppom. Has anyone dealt with a ppom? Anyway i look forward to getting to know you all.

Kim, Welcome to the board. I had BCBS PPO and did not have any troubles but my comobidities were possible different. You just sometimes have to keep up the battle with them from what I have heard and read. Good luck to you as you embark on your journey that you have begun. I am also 5'4" and a year ago weighed 272. Now am down to 171. It is a wonderful tool that they give to us to use for weight loss. My husband just had his psych eval this past Tuesday as he is getting ready to have the surgery also. Welcome! I don't have ppom insurance so I can't help you there. I did have my surgery at Hurley, with Dr. Farhan. I was really pleased with Hurley. I hope you have a good experience, as well. Good luck on your journey! Tina

Welcome Kim! Best wishes to you as you prepare for surgery and beyond! I have a PPOM, but it often depends upon the carrier as to whom and what they cover and the deductible. If your insurance won't cover the surgeon you are seeing, there are definitely more out there who are great! OH is a good resource for you. Diane

Kim, Welcome! I have assurecare PPOM. I was denied my first request because I did not have 6 months MEDICALY supervised diet attempts. So for six months I did Weigh****chers again per my Dr's request and went in for weight inns. During that six months I worked on getting my appeal around and then was approved. At that time I thought it was just horrible but I understand why they do that. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. Hi Kim, so glad you decided to post and to introduce yourself! As you've probably discovered, this is a wonderful place full of wonderful people who love to help, encourage, advise and share experiences. I had my surgery with Dr. Obeid from Hurley, Dr. Dabideen assisted and visited me once during my stay. All of the surgeons at Hurley are excellent doctors and extraordinary people...you are in great hands! Lizzie B

Hi Kim, I am Tiffany and Dr. Dabideen just did my surgery on 2/6. I really like him, a lot. Are you going through his McClaren practice? He was with Hurley and I can not say enough great things about that hospital and those nurses! They were angels! Hope all goes well for you...
