Hello I have trouble eating any kind of healthy cereal. Does anyone else have this problem? Also, I need suggestions for snack foods that are ok to eat. I am running out of ideas and need fillers between my small meals. Thanks!

I tried eating cereal and I only have trouble with the milk. I need to get some lactaid and try that to see if I can handle it. I eat protein bars between meals, beef jerky, teddy grahams, fruits and veggies that are cut up. I also eat yogurt sometimes. I think it mostly depends on your tastebuds and what you like. I dump on all cereal and never eat it. I tried grape nuts with splenda last month and was sicker than dog. For higher protein snacks, I love ham rolled with veggie cream cheese, corned beef or salami rolled around a dill pickle, apples or carrots with peanut buter, or yogurt with fruit.

Amy, I can't eat ceral either... for a while I was eating Rice Krispies with fresh fruit and milk, but after about a week I started getting sick on it! I can eat some ceral dry as a snack.... but I recently found Granola Munch'ems by Kellogg's, mmmmmmm....... I've seen them at Target or Wal-mart in the same aisle as all the other Nutri-grain/breakfast bars. Anyway.... it is a box of six pouches and it comes in either Honey Oat or Cinnamon Oat. They have 9 gr of sugar per pouch and 2 gr of protein.... not the greatest, but an easy quick snack. I have several in my purse in case I need one! I also really enjoy Mott's Healthy Harvest Sugar free applesauce, it comes in single servings... I really like the strawberry apple and the granny smith apple flavors. If you need protein snacks... I am kinda boring like everyone else.... alot of Chicken breast lunchmeat wrapped around a piece of string cheese or chicken breast lunchmeat and a piece of mild cheddar chunk cheese on a wheat thin. Hope this helps..... Nikki

i thought that said "cereal and smack" and thought, "uh oh, here we go again!" snack foods: cheese, jerky, yogurt, and nuts seem to be my staples.

Have you tried special K low carb? With 1/2% milk that works for me. The cereal bars are ok too if I go a half hour of eating time. I like the south beach bars but If I take less than a 1/2 hour to eat those I yack. I stick to grapes, nuts, jerky and those funy little oranges that peel real easy. Good luck. kp @ goal

oh man, i would love some of those funny little oranges! Tangerines i believe (clementines, mandarin oranges etc.) but i was told that there is too much acid for our little pouches. I LOVE THOSE THINGS!!!! I used to buy crates of them at Costco and eat them like candy, those things are sooooooo good.

Hi Amy, The only cereal I can eat is Cream of wheat, but the carbs are pretty high 24 grams per cup. So I dont eat it anymore. Snacks I use light cheese sticks. F.F. cheeses, apples, bananas, and oranges. Hope this helps, God bless you, Annette

I eat clementines (seedless tangerines), grapes, soy nuts (great source of protein), kroger carb master yougurt 12 grams of protein, as far as cereal goes I can only eat Go Lean cereal by Kashi or a granola that I buy at a health food store in Royal Oak(Vital Foods) that has no sweetners used in it and I use soy milk called Soy Slender sweetened with Splenda again the grams of protein for a snack 15 grams . GeniSoy also makes a Soy Crisp which is like a rice cake, I find those a great alternative when everyone else in the family is having popcorn watching the movie, I get my snacky munchy out of the system and get 7 grams of protein in. All too often we forget carbs are NOT the enemy!!! I eat carbs, I just eat healthy carbs, I never eat white refined flour products, I find that one piece of bread called Womens Bread (found in the freezer section of health food stores and Krogers) with some natural peanut butter will fill me up for hours and again provide me with a great small meal. I have yet to get ill on that protein filled whole grain thin sliced bread. Yes, guys, they make a mens version also!!! The womens version has more soy which can cause issues for men. Hope these suggestions help. Jill

I agree with Jill RE: the good carbs! I have to admit that occasionally I give in to some bad ones though. But GeniSoy's Soy Crisps are fantastic! I recently discovered them, thanks to a coworker who has to eat gluten-free. She had a bag stashed in her desk and I was hungry one afternoon, so she shared. They are fabulous! Crunchy and they come in a variety of flavors. I haven't tried them all, but I really like the sea salt and garlic flavor. And 7 grams of protien to boot! I've found them at Meijer and Kroger. Diane
