Anyone try Profect yet?
Prior to surgery, I thought they were pretty good...but now post surgery, I feel (like many things) that they are too sweet. Still, I can get down 3 ounces very well so it's worth it to keep one stashed in my purse (in my case, diaper bag) well.
The texture is doable...unlike Prostat64, which IMHO, is absolutely VILE...the viscosity reminiscent of thick cough syrup. :gag: If anyone would like my opened (tried twice) bottle of cherry Prostat64, feel free to email me. It's yours....happily.
Chele
I got some Profect from Chele, pre-op and gave it a try. I was really excited as I thought they were a nice change and very easy way to get in an extra 25 g of protein. Just know, the formulation of Profect is not the type of protein NEEDED. In my Hurley books, it said that we need soy or whey based proteins and to avoid animo acid and/or hydrolozied proteins AS YOUR MAIN SOUCE of protein.
I took a tube to my surgeon and he is having the dietician/nut research it. His personal opinion was that it would be fine in a pinch or as extra, but not your main source of protein.
Tiffany
(I see them again next week so I may have more info on Tuesday)
It's the only protein supplement that I can tolerate! I don't use it as my main source of protein, but I do drink one per day to supplement my food-based protein.
I can't stomach (or would "I can't pouch" be more appropriate? ) any of the shakes or bars. I've noticed a difference in my weight loss too.. the 2 weeks before I started using it, I had plateaued for a little while, but once I started with one vial a day, my weight loss got back on track.
The taste is sweet, but at less than 3 oz it's not hard to drink. The only flavor that I find nasty is the grapefruit mango. My favorite is citrus berry.
