Sleep Study

Got a call from my PCP's office today. They made an appointment for me to see a Dr. at a sleep studies clinic for the purpose of getting me off my CPAP. I've been wearing that damn thing for the last 7 years and can't wait to be rid of it. My initial consultatin with the doctor is next Thursday hopefully to be followed up with an overnight stay. The next question is what to do with my CPAP once I don't need it anymore. I hate it but it also helped keep me alive when my obesity was at it's worst. My apnea was so severe my very life was in danger. Soooo....should I give it to charity? (TAX DEDUCTION!!!) Sell it? ($$$) Find another use for it? (FISH TANK??) Retire it to the basement? (TOO MUCH CRAP DOWN THERE ALREADY) Or take my 12 gauge Remington to it? (TOO DESTRUCTIVE) Just as long as I don't have to wear it. The best thing is that this is a big sign of my improving health and one of the reasons I had my surgery. We talk about dating and looking good but the most important reason we, or at least I, did this was to improve our health and extend our lives. Take care all and keep on getting healthier Tim

i'm worried i won't be able to fall asleep without mine, i'm so used to it, but ive lost 150lbs and probably need a new sleep study as well. I can't sell mine because it belongs to the insurance company (i think). Good luck Tim!

Congrats on the possiblity of getting rid of your machine. I have no idea how you should get rid of it. I personally like the fish tank idea. LOL only because fish can entertain me for hours. ROFLMAO Whatever it may be you have done an awesome job so far! You have a lot to be proud of. Suzanne 300/155/150

Congrats Tim! I myself was lucky enough to have not had sleep apnea so I never experienced the machine. I would say donating it to someone who cant afford one but really needs it would be a great idea (but I am like that). I am not sure how you would go about that but www.freecycle.org is a great way to advertise things for free, heck maybe you could clean out the basement too! See you at the support group meeting!
