Dr Wood and the pouch
Hi Janet,
I'm with KP, do your homework. The choice of your surgeon depends on what you're looking for, its a personal choice. Now my opinion is that I have heard some really negative things about CORI BUT when choosing DR Wood, I went in search of DR WOOD not CORI. If he would have still been with Liv-Lite then I would have been there!! Like I said it is a personal choice and I picked my surgeon based on what I knew about the docs and hospitals, not necessarily who worked in their office.
Remember RESEARCH! RESEARCH! RESEARCH!

Dr. Wood was my surgeon (and he is wonderful) and Cori Centers did all of my paperwork/approval processing without me having to worry about anything and I never had a problem with either of them. I will say that after I was a year out I no longer use Cori for my follow-up appointments (I use the doctor I have had for the last 20 yrs). I have read the "problems" other people have experienced and I am unclear what the differences are, but I never experienced any of them.
Good Luck!

Hi Janet, i'm glad you found us. welcome to our big happy family!! I don't know how cori is ran, so i can't help you out there. But i can tell you what i did. I read every profile i could and researched as much as i could before i made the decision....make sure it's what you want and that you have an excellent surgeon, one that has done thousands of these surgeries. This is a life altering surgery, it doesn't fix your cravings , only the amount you can eat. There are major complications that can come with this , and ppl will judge you for doing it. BUT, it has changed my life so much for the better, i think it was the best thing i could have ever done for myself....i had terrible life threatening complications, but would go through all of them again to get where i am right now. Good luck to you no matter what you decide.
Hugs

Hi Janet.
I have my consult scheduled with Dr Wood on the 14th and am SUPER excited. I know of several people I worked with that had their surgery through CORI center and had nothing but great things to say. I am fairly new here so I haven't seen any bad stuff about CORI in the many profiles I have read. I met Dr Wood at a seminar he did almost 3 years ago and he rocked my socks then and that is why I have chosen to go with him and the CORI center. As some others have said just make sure you do your homework where this is concerned!
Good Luck!
Jennifer
I know that you are interested in the cori center in Detroit but there are also great programs in the grand rapids area which is closer to your home. I had my surgery with MMPC and I also had complications and they took great care of me when I was sick and I would recommend them totally to anyone because they saved my life and made me a better person. Like everyone says do your homework and research on your surgeon and the program because you are making a major life style change by having this surgery. I wish you luck on your journey and upcoming appointments. Tricia
Dr. Wood is THE best. From the moment I met him, I knew I'd be in good hands. He's experienced, specializes in bariatric surgery and he cares a lot about his patients.
As for CORI, so far I really haven't had any problems. I was approved immediately for my surgery, and they handled all of the paperwork - I didn't have to do a thing. The staff at the Warren office has been very helpful, friendly, kind and considerate. The only glitch I had was that my first post-op appointment had to be cancelled because the doctor (Dr. Wood was out of town, so I was to see Dr. Taylor) was stuck at the hospital in an emergency. Not that big of a deal - I work with doctors and I know how unpredictable their schedules can be!
I had the LAP RNY, so my pouch is larger than the micropouch. My surgery and recovery have been problem-free so far (knock on wood!) and feel I just couldn't be in better hands. Dr. Wood ROCKS!
