Post Op Dietary Question

I had surgery in 1997 so it has been a long time since I had any dietary guidelines for post-op bariatric patients. I have gained some pounds back over the last year and want to get back on track to take this weight off. I know that we are supposed to eat 80-100 grams protein per day and without questions, lots of water. Does anyone have a general guideline to follow for carbs? Does anyone have any suggestions for what is the grams of daily carbs? Thanks for any input offered.

This was just brought up a few days ago...I'm pretty sure most said they stay within 30 grm. of carbs. Good luck! Theresa

I get so confused by carbs. When they talk about 30 grm of carbs, does that mean total carbs - or "impact" carbs? And does anyone know what type of nutition counts to deduct from total carbs to get to the impact carb number. I know that sugar carbs and fiber counts are deducted, is there anything else? Is there a carb counting "guru" out there who can give me a quick lesson on carb counting?

Try this website: http://www.bariatricsupportcenter.com/ and you'll most likely have to sign up, which is 10.00 a month for membership (well worth it to me)....then.... ***Try the QUICK START PROGRAM**** that is on the website there. I believe it is ideal for people who want to "quick start" again and lose some more pounds. No matter the reason....it is tricky to follow but if you need some coaching there are plenty of people there to advise you. Best to you Stacey
