I had my surgery in late August 2005. I've lost 65lbs,was 315 am now 246. I have stopped losing. I got a better protien, increased my excercise and spoke to my dietician, with no results. Does anyone have any suggestions. My calorie intake is around 700 per day. My protien in take is around 70-90grams daily. This isn't a plateau I don't think because of the adjustments I've made. I've been like this for weeks.HELP!

In my opinion, you are not eating enough. Your body will compensate over time for the lack of calories and start storing everything you eat because it thinks you are starving. 700 calories a day is not enough to sustain life. It is ok when when we are first post op, but as far out as you are, you should be consuming more. I am surprised your dieticican did not not address this with you. If you are exercising, you need to be eating more than you are. Our bodies are amazing really. That is why so many gain over time. The body compensates and learns to adapt to any situation we put it in. I really would increase your calories to about 1000. After a week or so, you should kick it into losing.

Janice~First of all, congratulations on your loss to this point!! You are just a few days behind me and I've lost 70lbs!! I have to agree with Terri here!! Our good friend Jon helped me through my "plateau" and he was SO RIGHT!!! You are not taking in enough calories!! Your body is in starvation mode and hanging on to EVERYTHING it can!!! I'm CERTAIN if you up your calories to at LEAST 1000 (Jon said 1200) then you WILL start seeing a loss again!! You can do it!!! It's not easy to get the calories in but it works!!! Good luck and keep us posted!!! Hugs, Cheryl 260/190/130

I have to agree with the others....you are not taking in enough calories. I was told 1000 a day...make sure you are getting all your protein in too. Both things will jump start you. And don;t forget your water. Tracey
