Shakes (not beverages)...feeling of faintness & nausea
Today, I experienced abnormally high shaking and fatigue, nausea and basically like I was having some sort of a seizure.
I had taken my vitamins, had protein (about 30 gm so far) ate lunch, and all of a sudden I felt extremely shaky and faint like. I could not even hold my car keys.
I was preparing to go to work when this happened, and I find it bizarre as I've never felt this before. This episode lasted about 1/2 hour or so, and I drank some ice water, washed my face with cool water, felt so flushed that I could collapse, and then decided perhaps it may be "LOW BLOOD SUGAR" and I tested and it was 62. I drank some juice and suddenly I felt better, the more I drank, the better I felt.
I'm now at work and have overcome this feeling and wondered if any of you had experienced something like this? What did you do? I'm just 6 months post op and still experiencing weird things now and again. This was by far the weirdest
I had diabetes pre surgery and now do not, and did not realize my level had dropped so but taking the OJ helped quite a bit.
Thanks.. Your input and experiences are appreciated!
Stacey,
Low blood sugar is what you had! This happens to me all the time! I carry glucose tabs with me wherever I go! This started happening to me about 8 months post-op. This used to happen to me all the time pre-op, but it is about 1000x worse now because when it hits, it comes out of nowhere and I have no warning. I have found if I eat fruit, like an orange or an apple about mid morning and then again in the afternoon, I don't have the episodes so often. I can only eat about 1/2 of each, but it seems to work. I sure hope you don't have this again!
Blessings&Hugs,
Kris

Stacey,
I get them too!!! Cold sweats, throwing up, shaking all over, passing out and the only thing that we can find is my blood sugar level is really low. I just eat an orange and wait it out. I have had some episodes where I have passed out and that is very unpleasant, now I have got to the point where I feel these episodes coming on and by catching them in time I can reduce the symptoms by grabbing an orange or tangerine. My friend asked last night when she got in my car to go out for the evening "why do you always have that bag of grapefruits and oranges in your car? LOL!!! right there next to my protein bars and water!!! those are my american express cards of survival!! I just never leave home without em!!! LOL
Good Luck to you,
Jill
