I live in Kalamazoo and had my surgery done in Dec at mmpc in grand rapids. They are great and offer extensive before and after care. I used Dr. Baker, but have heard nothing but good things about the other two surgeons also.

What is mmpc? That is about an hour away from Kalamazoo, right? Have you had any complications with your surgery? How many surgeries has Dr. Baker performed and what is his mortality rate? Thanks for the info. Mousey

mmpc is Michigan Medical, P.C. Center for Health Excellence. I live in south Portage and it takes me about an hour and ten minutes to get there. Very easy - 131 to 6 to 96 - office is just off 96. This office does only weight loss surgeries - Dr. Baker has done over 1100 of them. Mortality rate for the office is less than .1%. The link to his profile: http://obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/bariatric+surgeon+profile+Randal+Baker+fgr.html I just did have a complication that was fixed a couple of days ago - I had a stricture. This happens in about 5-8% of cases, but was easily fixed. I teach and had my original surgery over Christmas break - back to work with no problems at all. To fix the stricture, missed a day of work and was fine to go back the next day. I also bought the book "The Real Skinny on Weight Loss Surgery" by Julie Janeway, Karen Sparks, and a couple of chapters by Dr. Baker. It is excellent and covers everything. The web site for mmpc is www.mmpc.com. You have several preop appointments and then after at 2,4,6 wks and 3,6,12 months. Then yearly after that. They have dietitian, exercise, behavioral, etc right there that you see. I highly recommend them.
