How Much Protein?

Hi All: I see a lot of good discussions on here about protein, how to get it in, etc., etc. But it is causing me some concern because it appears that my protein requirements are very low compared to what others are trying to consume. My NUT has recommended a minimum of 65 grams a day with the thought that I should try not to get many more than 72. I asked her twice if that was correct and she assured me that according to the "formula" that was what my body requires. Does anyone know what the magic formula is? I am 5'4"...What do you guys think? Any info is greatly appreciated. My three month follow-up is in a couple of weeks I will also re-visit this topic then. Thanks! Maria W.

Hi Maria, I am reading from my book right now. It say's women need 60-80 grams per day. Men need 70-90 grams per day. My nut. has me on at least 90 grams per day. I hope this helps. God bless you, Annette

Thank you, Annette Perhaps I am right where I need to be afterall. I wonder what the benefit is, if any, to having more...and why people work so hard to get in extra if it's really not needed? Ahh...yet another question for my nutritionist. {{Hugs}} Maria W.

Maria- I was at 60 gms since surgery and when I reached goal I was told between 50-55. I don't track it but, I think I usually get in more than that. I still drink a shake every morning that is 32 gms. Then I eat protein with every meal. Teri
