OT and funny
Rarely does our job come to a high point like today but I had one of those moments that brings it all back home.
After the Kenwood band class today a student approached and asked me about the tune we had worked on - "Sakura, Sakura."
It's a simple Japanese folk song that us used to teach koto beginners and is also probably one of the most widely recognized melodies used at weddings.
"Mr. Phillips, is this a funeral song?" (obviously reflecting on our poor rendition after all it was our first run-through)
me- "Well, no. It's generally used as a song in Japanese weddings."
Without missing a beat the little girl behind us says, "Same thing."
I love my job. It took everything I had to hold it together.
