Gout after surgery???

Did anyone experience having gout after surgery? My surgery was 12/12/05. Just wondering if anyone did...

I didn't but my SIL who had surgery 12.27.05 did around 2 weeks out. It was pretty severe. She was able to work thru it but I know she avoided protein for a few days (not easy when protein is the one thing you should be eating after surgery!). She's about 5.5 weeks out now and hasn't had another flare up. If you have any specific questions just let me know & I'll ask her! Take care, Nicole
