I am taking calcium citrate with vit D cvs brand. These pills look like horse pills. I just had my surgery on1-12 so I'm limited as to what I can take. I just wondered if anyone know if there is a liquid form or a chewable. I just have to make sure it is citrate not carbonate. HELP!!!!!

My NUT told me to disolve them in water. YUCK So I went to the health food store and bought a liquid calcium citrate. I chose strawberry flavor and while not bad, I prefer to put it in yogurt where it's unnoticable. Sheryl In the Zoo 369/317/???

Whole Foods Market carries a liquid in several flavors; The Vitamin Shoppe carries a chewable that's tolerable... but you have to take 4 large wafers per day.

Make your calcium choice the chewable versions of Viactiv. Oh, they are so good and are like a treat after my evening meals. (you shouldn't take calcium with any other vitamins and it should be later in the day, FYI) The pills were making me sick, kind of a bubbly painful pouch feeling and I changed to the Meijer Brand of the Viactiv. You can get them this week buy one get one free since Meijer Brands are on sale and it does include the chewable Calcium. I take one of the Chocolate and one of the Caramel and put them together, YUM. (You need two a day for the needed amount per my dietician). Hope that helps! Pam

Michelle, I am a psychologist who works with pre and pos-surgery patients. As you know, Calcium is extremely important post-surgery. Bariatric Advantage is a company that provides supplements specifically for bariatric patients. They make a Calcium Citrate lozenge that is quite good. You can order it on-line at BariatricAdvantage.com. Hope this helps!
