BAD CASE OF HUNGER!

Help! I am seven months out from surgery and the last few weeks I am hungry a lot. (prior to this, I had to sometimes remind myself to eat! Now I feel hungry almost all the time!) ) has anyone else had this happen? If so, does it go away? I have been snacking on high protein drinks but that only curbs my appetite for a little while. Help! Also, I got a call from my surgeon's office asking me to come back in to get my potassium re=checked. Seems the first test showed it as being low. Anyone ever had this? If so, could this have anything to do with my greatly increased hunger? Help!!!!! Thanks. Pam

I am 7 months out too. I have been noticing an increase in my hunger. I have to admit it has been hard to ignore. I try to drink water when it happens. That seems to help a little. If I do eat something, I try to make good choices. Carrie at MMPC told me this would happen. For me prayer and exercise also seem to help in those really tough moments. My blood work has been good. So I think it is just about that time that our appetites start coming back Good Luck! Manda 265.5/162/130

Thanks for your input manda. I will increase the water and see if that helps some. I too try and make nutritious food choices when I do have a snack but they contain calories also so I need to be careful. Thanks again. Pam

Pam: I don' think that the low potassium has anything to do with your increased hunger. I have had low potassium since my surgery. Make sure you keep an eye on it. Tracey

Hi Pam it is good to see you posting again on the board. I have had a lot of trouble with my potassium in the past and do not let it get to low or they will give you IV potassium and that hurts big time. I try to eat a banana everyday to keep my levels normal. I also have hunger issues and I try to make good choices by eating high protein food and that does help satified me unit my next meal. Good luck on your journey Tricia

i have started wit hthe hunger. uncontrolable sometimes. i don't always make the right choices. i don't "dump" unfortunatley. i do try to eat good food. high protein. i have snacks ready so i grab them and not bad things. i was hoping it would be easier, but still have to fight the old demons. i don't think my stomach is hungry . i think it is in my head.
