Is it too much to ask for a thank you?

I know that the Secret pal thing is suppossed to be fun and I see a lot of people on the site giving thanks for the wonderful things they receive. I do the same thing! But is it too much to expect a small thank you when you send a gift out? I never know if the person I am sending things to ever receives or even likes the things I send. I am not trying to be petty I am just wondering if they are receiving what I send.

i know exactly what you mean. i always either post on the board or send an email to the person that sends to me (they created a special email to contact me so i wouldn't know who it was). i never hear anything or see any posts from the person that i'm sending to. the last round, i always got an email or saw a post within a couple of days of sending out the gift. now i never know if the person even got it. *shrug* to be honest, it's pretty discouraging - i'm not having nearly as much fun this time around as last time, and i don't know if i'm going to participate in the next round.

I am not a part of this Secret Pal round, but I certainly can understand where you are coming from. This past Christmas, I was involved in a Secret Pal Exchange with another Group. I got the most wonderful package. I could tell that alot of thought went into the gift. I promptly thanked her by posting to the Group Messages and a personal email to her. Here's the kicker; I sent my gift out, of which alot of thought went into it and I did not get a thanks at all. It was hurtful and I felt unappreciated. I later found out, she had been very sick. I don't know what the guidelines for the Exchange is, but maybe if it be made known that they need to post that the gift was received? Anyway, I will say thanks. The two of you are obviously giving people. Please don't be soured by your experience. Next time could be totally different. ((((Hugs)))), Normie

I never had a secret pal so i don't know protocol but a thank you seems not to much to ask for.
