Are there any Support groups here?

I moved back to Michigan in October and have not connected to a post surgery support group. I had my surgery in Scottsdale Arizona, I lived in Phoenix for 4 years, I came back here to be closer to my mom. I had my surgery in March of 2005 and will be retuning to Scottsdale for my one year check up. I use to go to goups in Phoenix related to my surgery as well as a WLS group and was wondering if there is anything like that here. I live in Birmingham, MI now and would love to find a group to go to on a regular basis or if there is anyone interested in starting one, I would be willing to help with that as well, look forward to hearing from anyone that may have some news for me...Thanks Anita :-:-:-

Hi Anita! I know of a group by Westland Mall, at the Denny's, but I haven't been there yet. I plan on starting a group within the next 1 to 1-1/2 months - need to find a place (not a restaurant). If you want to help, let me know! Darla

Beaumont Weight Loss Center in downtown B'ham has one and Unasource/NorhtPointe Medical at 12 and Woodward has an orgnaized one. (Dr. Doyle's group)

Do you know if you had to have your surgery at these places or is anyone invited? I am looking for one that is a little closer than Warren. Also, when and where (don't know these places) do these meet?

Anita, I live in Southfield and work in Royal Oak, so am right in the same spot as you. I have been thinking about trying to get a support group started around here. I would love to work with someone on getting this done. E-mail me if you would like to help and know how we can go about getting it started up. I work with about 4 or 5 others that have had the surgery and they may be interested in this also.
