Would I do it again?

I have to answer the question would you do this again. I'm usually a lurker and have been for over 4 years. It will be 4 years in April since I had my surgery. At the time I had to use a cane or a walker and was on oxygen 24/7. I had been told that within a year I would be in a nursing home. When th CNA I was seeing suggested this I went for it. My mother is still alive and I know it would kill her if something happened to me. It took 6 months from the time I seen the surgeon til I had my surgery. Since that time I have lost 187 pounds, no longer use a cane and have been off oxygen a long time. I now work part time. I did have a hernia repaired and the mesh has torn but so far it isn't bothering me much so the doctor and I have decided to leave it alone for now. I never had any plastics and I do have some hanging skin but not much. Would I do it again? In a heart beat. I think this surgery saved my life. By the way I am now 67 years old. Judy Shock

We have a lot in common, Judy. I too am a lurker, we are both "mature" (I'm 58), I was told I'd be in a wheelchair in 5 years, but I'm only 1 1/2 years out. I would do it again every month for a year if I had to. It's unbelieveable how much better I feel. No more high blood pressure, siatica (sp?), sore joints, etc. I fit in all restaurant booths, can sit on any chair I choose, I can cross my legs, cut my toenails, scratch the middle of my own back, I could go on and on about things many people take for granted. So darn much scare in the news regarding wls. I feel sorry for those who are medically able but afraid of the surgery. I have a friend, and I'm using that term loosely, who sends me articles about death and complications from the surgery. My husband thinks she is jealous. I think she's a hypocrondiac who's addicted to medical information. Among other things, she reads everything she can regarding any new medication she starts, and surprise of suprises, she gets most of the side effects. Means she can't take anything for her cholesterol (no, I'm not looking for articles to send her regarding high chloresterol, ha ha). If her husband were not such a nice guy we would probably sever ties with them.
