NEW and Looking for support...

Hello I'm Kimberley, 26 from Macomb, MI. I have been struggling with my weight since i was little. I also have pcos. Its aweful, hair loss, facial hair...just aweful... I meet my surgeon for the first time this Thurs the 19th. I got most everything done b4 hand just to get the ball rolling...my EKG, Blood work, stress test, psyc. test. all done. I am hoping to have this surgery by june. I have been researching it for 3 years and finally got myself to start the journey. I am praying I will get approved. I have BCBS PPO COMMUNITY BLUE. I got everything they asked for..but still ya never know. I need as many prayers I can. Just want to get this. I need to get healthy! thank you for reading Kimberley

Hi Kimberly and welcome!!! I wish when I was your age I had done the surgery, but I yo-yo'd so many times it wasn't until I hit my 40's that I realized I had literally no discipline or self control. To me, the surgery was not the "easy way out" as some people outside of the Lap band/RNY world seem to speak. Take it one day at a time, and you'll get over the hurdles. Small steps, even baby steps. I had researched it for over a decade but the timing was never right until last summer. I never got a "no" or "decline", but if that happens just keep fighting. If you meet all the qualifications there shouldn't be any problems. Welcome to the group Kimberley. I have BCBS Community Blue and I was approved almost overnight. I am having surgery on January 30 , Good Luck and I wish you the best.

Welcome Kimberley! Glad you found us here! This site is a wonderful place for support and friendship....it's been a lifesaver for me....I've been "addicted" to it since I found it in 2003! Hopefully everyone's not sick of seeing my "mug" on the Board everyday! Sounds like you have all your ducks in a row, and BCBS PPO Community Blue is what I had, NO PROBLEMS AT ALL!
