HAIR LOSS!!
I did experience some hair loss. The most important thing you can do is make sure you get in your protein. However, because your nutrition is very limited and your body has undergone such a drastic surgery, there isn't a way to prevent it (that I'm aware of). My hair loss was a little scary... but it stopped. And, although my hair is still thinner than it was pre-op, it was hardly noticed by others.

I am right in the middle of losing my hair - started at 4 months. I read that it starts growing back by 8 months. Keep up the protein and it might slow it down, but I don't think anything prevents it from at least some hair falling out. Some folks don't have a problem with it ( minimal loss), while others lose quite a bit. My hair stylist told me a couple of days ago that I already have some growing back (little hairs about 1/4" long!), so I can start breathing easier!
I wouldn't be too concerned about it - it does grow back!!

I was under the impression that it is the anesthesia that causes the hair loss. I am not aware that there is anything that can be done. It does grow back. I am a little concerned about the possiblity of mine falling out again after my TT. I was under about the same amount of time.
A litttle hair loss is a small price to pay for what you get in return though.

Actually it is the bodies response to stress, shock, or simply the surgery itself that causes the hair loss or lack of it. Normally it will happen about 100 days post op. I have had several surgeries and trust me the body has given me a dose of hair loss with each and every one, I ate with all my other surgeries ( in fact I gained weight just about everytime!!!) so not eating or nutrition has nothing to do with it. I did find that mine started growing back about 6 months later and it came back darker as it always has and it came back this time with a bit of curl to it, bonus!!! Just as long as it didn't come back all gray I was happy

I actually just came from my surgery consult with Dr Wood. Anesthesia can cause and so can stress BUT the post op if you dont take in enough protein or go into a vitamin defeciency, it will increase hair loss. You may still lose some but they(CORI Center) have vitamin for it called Hair Max.
Been up all night(worked midnight shift) and at Cori all day for psych/surgical consult. Will update the rest later. Diva
You did the right thing and talked to Dr. Wood. He will steer you down the path of rightousness.
I had a little thinning on top but I jammed protein and took my vitamins like a good little bariatric and it stopped after a month. In fact my hair is thicker now than it was pre op.
My surgeon, Dr. Schuhknecht warned me of it and told me how to counter it so I listend and here I am - a hairy beast of a man! I had a hairy belly too but he cut most of that out with the TT in October.
I know,,,,, TMI
