I'm a newbie!
I signed up here not too long ago and have been 'gathering' my information. My husband is very supportive of me having WLS! He landed an awesome job back in September (if you buy milk, get it from Meijers - Keep him busy because he delivers it all over Michigan!!!) and his insurance is BCBS (out of Texas). The excluded section indicates coverage for anything weight loss, with the exception of morbid obesity. Well, unfortunately (or fortunately!) I fit into that category. I have spoken with Erin G. on the phone and feel ready to take the leap towards the new me. Right now I am waiting for the insurance cards to come in the mail and then will set up my appointment for first visit.
A bit of background on me: I have been married for 10-1/2 years. We have been through infertility (weight related, I don't know). I go to a chiropractor every other week (again, weight related... could be!). I have tried low carb, low fat, mayo diet... all those 'eat this don't eat that' diets, except weight loss pills. Those scared me! I was a member at the local gym but did not renew my membership in summer of 04. The reason why you ask? WELL, we were in the middle of getting ready to take our first trip to Russia! My husband and I traveled twice to Russia: once in September, 2004 and again in March, 2005. We arrived home on April 4, 2005 with our new son!! He's been a major influence on my having surgery. I want to see him grow up. I want to play outside with him (and he has lots of energy!). I don't want him to feel embarassed of his mom around his friends when he gets older. We are practically helping to raise my niece (long story, but my parents have guardianship of her due to her mother basically abandoning her) and she will be the first to tell you I'm the coolest aunt in the world. My husband and I just recently signed back up at the gym... now I have to get my butt in gear and get there! Anyways, that's currently me in a nutshell!

Michelle-
Welcome- You are making a huge step toward a different life. I too did this mainly because I have a 6 year old daughter that I want to see grow up. I want to be able to run on the beach and play with her, roll on the floor and be able to get up. Thin people sometimes I think take for granted the ease of simply get out of bed. Best of luck. If you ever have any questions please feel free to drop me a line.
Hugs-
Charla
