Anyone out there have surgery at Blodgett in Grand Rapids?
I am having revision Feb. 8th at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. I know they have a Bariatric wing, but am wondering what it is like for patients. I have Vanderkolk for a surgeon with Sholten assisting, so I am in excellent hands, as they are the best.
I am sure looking forward to getting my surgery over with. My daughter has a brain cyst and will have surgery to remove in on jan. 31. I will go up to the Traverse City area to be with her that week and then come home, clean house, stock up on groceries for my hubby, and then go in for my surgery the next Wed. It will be an eventful month, for sure.
Would love to hear from anyone who has gone through the surgery and lives in the Grand Rapids area.
I have spent a lot of time at Blodgett hospital I was a patient there for most of the summer after my bariatric surgery. The nurses are great and the rooms are all private on the floor. You will be given the best care from the nurses and they bend over backwards to make you feel comfortable and help with your pain control. I wish you well with your surgery and I will pray for your daughter also that her surgery is complications free. I am looking forward to talkng to you soon. Tricia
I had a child, a breast reduction, bariatric surgery and plastic surgery at Blodgett. I have never had a bad experience. The only complaint was that the rooms were very warm... and that might be a good thing for you. I say, with the confidence you have in your surgeon and the good care Blodgett gives, you will be fine.

Hi Sue,
The people at Blodgett are great!! Dr. Scholten did my surgery there 2 years ago, and I was very pleased with the whole experience. They have a bariatric floor designed for larger patients, and staff that is trained to deal with people fresh out of RNY surgery. I had no complaints...you'll be in great hands!
