HELP TUMMY TUCK ADVICE
Laurie ..
I sure have kept you and your family in my prayers .. I soooo hope you are hanging in there and getting some answers sooner than later. You see Dr. Wood tomorrow right? I so hope he has some answers for you. You certainly have been through the ringer ... speaking of ringer .. I have been having major blood issues .. need to have a bone marrow biopsy to see what's happening now with my red bld cells .. so my hemoglobin has been terrible .. they still did the surgery (yea, god) but, I had 6 pints of bld transfused first weekend of Dec .. then 4 during the surgery, 1 in recovery and one the next day .. so talk about trying to stay positive ... yikes .. I can understand a wee bit of what you are going through .. it's scary .. but, we will get through all of this and be better on the other side .. so hang in there ...
Thinkin gof ya,
Karryn
Gosh Karryn...you had a lot done at once, so I'm not sure how to get comfortable for sure...but I was most comfortable sitting on my couch, with a firm pillow behind me and lots of vicodin on board! Keep up on your pain meds....don't let the pain get ahead of you, especially at night. Keep us posted and hang in there! Theresa
Thanks Theresa ... pillows helped!!!
I had to stay in the hospital an extra day .. thank god .. but, I had to have blood transfused during surgery (4 pints of blood) - then one pint in recovery and then one the next day .. so it's been crazy ... I was happy to get home yesterday but, fearful of how to even sit .. nothing was working .. thank god you guys have been through this ... now, If I could just poop .. I worry about doing a fleets .. because the pain /pressure of pushing it out .. i will hope for the best over the day today .. Thanks again ... and for writing back to my mom. She's been a trooper ..
Back to the chair for me ..
Karryn
Karryn,
You definately have some challenges to not lay on anything that wasn't affected! I slept in my own bed, but I have many pillows behind me to keep me from laying flat and I put a pillow under the bend of my legs too so the bottom didn't pull. The first couple of nights I relied on my pain killers heavily too. I hope you find something that works for you!!!
Hi Mary ... thanks for the post back. I am thankful for all the pillow suggestions I got last night .. I am taking the vicodin like clockwork and sitting on a ton of pillows ... Dr. Ellen was great ... thanks for all your advice prior to my surgery, by the way. I am glad I did all these at once .. but, wowzer ... it makes moving/sitting really challenging .. shesh .. now, if I could just go to the bathroom ... Thanks again for your help.
Karryn
I had the worst time getting comfy anywhere. I would sleep for an hour or two at a time tops. I just kept telling myself that I would not die from lack of sleep and if I had to sleep like that around the clock I would, and I did. I took Vicodin(too much obviously), and eventually just slept out of exhaustion. I used pillows for propping and needed help from Matt to turn over or get up. He took good care of me. I kind of wish I had gotten that hospital bed though.
If I can get this through this, so can you. You will have to experiment and it may really be days before you find a spot that will allow you some comfort. Keep us updated.
Terri
Terri ... Thanks so much ... We used like 10 pillows last night and I got 2 hours of sleep .. ugh ... but, vicodin and pillows helped. I am taking senecot right now .. but, I swear the constipation from surgery Fri - to day - and all the drugs ... yikes .. I hope I can get this out of me - I hope you are feeling better ... I just walked up the stairs to send quick thank you notes .. I was dying last night in pain .. and really appreciated everyone's suggestions ... KEY PILLOWS!
Hope you are feeling better, too ...
Will keep everyone posted ... now, back downstairs!
