Hi everyone... as you may have already read - I HAVE A DATE (I love saying that!!)... I was wondering if anyone who has already been through pre-admission testing would be able to share what all takes place at that appointment. What tests are ran, etc. I know I will be there for 3-4 hours. Any info you're willing to share would be great! Oh yeah... did I mention I HAVE A DATE?? Brandee

Brandee Im sure that different surgeons require different tests. At Barix i had....labs, chest xray, ekg, ultra sound on my gall bladder, physical by dr, pulminary function test, lots of questions by the nurse and then i met with the nutritionist. Stacy

Congrats!!! Pre op testing is really simple, usually blood work, EKG, chest x~ray, a meeting with the anesthesiologist. Thats about that it, give or take a test or two. ~~Simone 8 days 2 LOSERland ~~

Congrats on your date. That is like music to one's ears. I know the stress of it all too well! Every Doc will have different test ran. I went throught the Barix clinic in Yipsi. It took about 3 hours. I had blood drawn, ultrasound of gallbladdar, met with surgeon, met with $$$$ coordinator, met with diatician, and EKG, and tested some sugar free samples. It was the day that it all became so real! Like this was REALLY going to happen. Best wishes for you, you won't be sorry! God bless Kristy

Hi Kristy! Thank you for that information. I did some reading online last night and I think those are basically the "standard" tests... I appreciate EVERYONE's feedback. I have much less anxiety about the pre-admin portion. My mom is going to go with me on that day and be my 2nd in command at the nutrition class so my hubby can save his time off for when I am in the hospital. My mom is awesome and I am so glad she has been such a big supporter of this decision. I checked out your profile... you look amazing! Congratulations to you on your success!!! Brandee

Congratulations so very much on your date!!! We will look forward to seeing you on the LOSING bench!!! For my pre op tests: EKG, Blood work (cbc, chem 7, etc) chest xray and I spoke to a Nut (dietician/nutrionist) and the admitting Rn. She took me on a tour of ICU just in case, since I had sleep apnea and high blood pressure. I was there from about 1pm to 330pm and then the next thing I remember was stepping on the scale at my surgeon's office for the last time before surgery. That was pretty much all I had to undergo. And it all went fine. Some places maybe ask you to do other things, you can always call and ask. Best to you and congrats again !!! Stacey W
