Woa, I have a question. I know I never post much anymore, but I have a problem occuring all of a sudden. No problems since my surgery until now. For the past 2-3 weeks everytime I eat, about an hour or two later I get really dizzy and shakey. I know it's my blood sugar dropping so I quickly down some OJ and start feeling better. I have been fine since surgery, why all of a sudden am I having a problem? I haven't changed my eating habits. Is there anyone else out there who is having a similar problem? Today's episode was so bad, now I have had a lingering headache that I can't seem to get rid of. Any suggestions out there? Thanks in advance everyone. Kristy

Kristy, This happened to me the farther out I was. Not sure why. I was told to make sure I put something in my mouth every two hours. I sometimes forget and will feel dizzy and shakey. It gets so bad that I know I have to eat but I can't make a decision and want to cry. I make myself put something in my mouth and eat and I will feel better. I have had a couple of episodes where I just couldn't bring it back up and finally ate a small piece and regular candy and it leveled out. I know from my sister (who has had this problem all her life) that there really isn't anything they can do. We need to control by diet. I try to make sure I have protien snacks with all the time. I keep protien bars and nuts in the car and stuff at work. Take care, Fran

Go to the Doctor right away and get your blood run. It's important. Your potassium may even be low. Best to check it out Kristy. Let us know. Hugs, Theresa

I have the same problem. I had it before my surgery but not that bad. It seems that the last year it has gotten worse. I see my family doctor next week and will be having some test run. I can not go anywhere without some type of nutrition with me. You are not alone but you do need to go see a doctor.

Kristy, The same thing has been happening to me since December. I actually have gone as far as testing my blood sugar to see what it is... most mornings it stays at about 40 never higher than 60. I found that there were times after I had eaten, even if it was fish and a salad that my blood sugar would drop to below 40 and not come back up until I ate some fruit or in the worse case I would actully have to eat sugar!!! My doc suggested I add some fruit to my salads, like one or two strawberries, maybe a couple of segments of orange. It makes me ill, gives me the shakes, I throw up, and yeah I have kept headaches for hours afterward, the sweats are the worst. I keep nuts at my bedside, in my car, and in my desk at work, a few nuts will help most times. For some reason my doc suggested peanuts or peanut butter, I guess they metobolize quicker into the system. Just yesterday I realized I had not eaten like I should and had a terrible reaction, a few cashews later and I started to come out of it. Good Luck to you, Jill

I have had some of the same problems. I emailed my surgeon to ask about this and never got a response. Another Doc (PA) that I have worked with said he really felt that my sugar levels were taking a nose dive. Once I almost passed out at work, and although my sugar was below 100 even after I had eaten, it really wasn't terrifically low. I wish I had a few more answers on this also. I am about 2.5 years out. I've had other things that I also wish I could get answers on but it doesn't seem to happen just yet anyway. Take care and God Bless. Beth
