I am sure many of you have tried all of the vitamins and protein powders out there. Which protein powders have the most protein per serving and still taste bearable? How much protein is possible in one serving? Where can I purchase this protein powder with the most protein in it? Do they have it on this site? Also, do you have to get chewable vitamins or can you take the swallow kind? I heard many people get Flinstones chewables. Are those the best kind for us as far as absorbtion? What other vitamins do we have to take daily? I heard calcium, iron and a multi vitamin. Is there anything else I'm forgetting? Thanks, Mousie

Hi Mousie, At almost 6 months post-op I am still experimenting with different protein powders. I found an unsual source that is a Michigan company that actually is mainly an animal, specifically horses, supplement company. Their name is Euckle. I tried their "human" protein powder and really liked both the chocolate and very berry. Both I mixed with water. I would also suggest buying a sampler pack from WLSsupplies dot com of both ISOPURE & SYNTRAX products. Both are low carb and at a minimum 23 gms of protein per serving. I love their Orange Cream. Tastes just like a creamcicle when mixed with skim milk. Some even have 50 gms of protein. As far as vitamins I think each doctor is different but Flintstones has indeed been mentioned here often. My own doctor reccomends Centrum. I have used both chewable and tablet. It really is just a matter of personal preference. Calcium - 2 Citral Cal with D (watch the labels as some have only 420 while others have 600..) From Twin Labs I buy dry A and A&D. I take 4 A&D per day and 2 of the A's per day. In additional I take one B-12 sublingual in the mornng and along with a B Complex due to low pre-op blood test results. I feel great and peopel tell me I look great so it seems to be working. Good luck!

I agree with Patt on the Syntrax - I love the Lemon Tea and the Tealicious! Sam's have a calcium in a capsule/liquid form.

I have two cannisters of Syntrax Nectar Fuzzy Navel & Strawberry Kiwi, both are open but only 1/3 is gone. Need to get rid of them because I don't drink them. They retail at about 34.95 plus shipping and handling. They have not been tampered with!! I will ship them for free if you want to buy them from me both cannisters at 30.00 total. Let me know. Stacey

Hi Stacey! If it weren't for the fact that I did not care for either of those flavors I'd buy them from you in heart beat. I ended up buying the large pineapple, orange & banana one as I liked the sample and now am not so crazy about it but will make myself use it all after shelling out the cash. I found a sight that had decent prices on the ISOPURE it is bodybuildingoutlet dot com the cost for the big contaner was $26.95. But then of course there was the shipping ground UPS which was 11.87. If any of us use this sight and put a person's name in the comment section then we get $3.00 off our next order so IF you order from there based on this post remember "you heard it hear first" and put my name in the comments section Patt

Darn! I would have definitely taken you up on that if they were different flavors. Do you have any other flavors? I don't care for the ones you mentioned. Thanks anyway, Mousie

I tried to use protein powder and I found it to make me WAY TOO FULL for the whole day! I JUST switched to an awesome product that I love! It is pricey, but I figure what I am saving on food, it about balances out. As post op patients we are required to get 80-100g of protein. This 20oz drink has 40g of protein AND counts as 20oz toward your liquid intake for the day. I found them at GNC (and they are on sale until the end of June for 2.73 each) Their price is 3.75 each unless they are on sale. The Better Health Store also carries them for around 3.00 each. Like I said pricey but for me SO worth it. They are called Isopure Zero Carb. They come in like 6 different flavors and are ready to drink. I would never know it was a protein drink. Here is a link for it. http://www.naturesbest.com/index.html?section=Shopping&id=3004&catSec=208&pid=17666&-sessi on=thisSession:62FFB3054A1BDAE855188C44A4C891D3 Hope that helps! Jennifer 355/313/140

I agree with annette, don't buy it til your post op cause your tastes change a lot. Also, our bodies can only absorb 30 gms at a time, so the isopure is actually wasted. I like the elite chocolate mint mixed with skim milk, it tastes like a girl scout cookie and doesn't smell awful like a lot of protein does. I get it at absolutesupplements.com for $26 i think, it comes in a 5 pound container....a lot of places its over $50, and this place ships pretty quick. my suggestion to you is to go to bariatriceating.com and order the sample pacs . That was how i found what i like and there are a few others i like too. it was worth the money to test them and find what i liked. Hugs Linda
