What about X-rays after Wls
Hi there,
I read somewhere that after WLS, things like malignancies, abdominal bleeding, ulcers, etc. might not be easy to find because of surgery. Do you guys know anything about this? It said x-rays wouldn't detect certain things anymore? I'm not sure why it would be any different? And if x-rays can't detect things, wouldn't there be other things that could? Hmmmm.......I'm wondering.............
Back in September I had serious back pains. After countless visits to radiology, my PCP ordered a Nuclear Bone Scan. Relatively painless, other than a quick injection of a radioactive material three hours prior to the scan and then I layed on a table while the machine scanned my whole body.
It is at that time they located 8 fractured posterior ribs and some problems with my left rib cage. No regular X rays were able to detect this.
So I would say that if an X ray doesn't pick it up and you aren't sure, ask for something that is more progressive like the bone scan. I had NO idea I had 8 fractured ribs and to this day, we cannot figure out HOW they happened.
