restaurant help
Shari,
After reading the post I agree with everyone and I was having a problem with "wasting" food in the beginning and my husband made a very valid point. order what you want ,eat what you want and don't worry about wasting food or leaving the left overs.when we sat down and calculated what we saved in perscriptions, dr bills and everything else..... I figure even if I pay 25.00 for a meal and I only eat 1/4 of it I am still coming out ahead. So my general rule is order what I want eat what I can and if someone would like to take the left overs home(husband) he will. Don't let a small detail stress you out. Go and enjoy and get a chuckle when the waitress comes over and asks, " is everythng ok" because it looks like you didn't touch your plate. Happy Mother's day and I hope you had a good dy!
i'm sure they'd let you order off the children's menu if you brought your mommy and daddy with you and they were both getting full meals...
that's what the children's menu is for, not to offer smaller sizes at smaller prices, they're there so the parents can come eat and still have an option for junior without having to buy him some big fancy meal that he won't like or eat.
i just order what i want. pay the same price as every other adult and if i can't eat it all i take some home with me. same as any one else who chooses to go out to eat but may not have the same appetite that i did when i was 400lbs.
i don't get this whole thing about forcing the world to comply with our choices.
APPLEBEES now's offers meals according to WEIGH****CHERS dietary guidelines...............
So there are places WILLING to accomodate everyone's dietary needs.
I really don't care......I don't go out to eat often enough to give a crap but I do feel that I would frequent a place more often who is willing to accomodate my dietary needs.
This also stands for people who are diabetic, who have a wheelchair, who are handicapped, would you go if they could not accomodate you?
THIS IS ALL ABOUT ACCOMODATING CUSTOMERS.
I was in the service industry for years and the customer is ALWAYS right.
Thanks everyone for your responses. I also feel like most that responded that restaurants could and should make exceptions for us, but I understand not all of you agree. I know prior to my surgery a few had posted about restaurants that were accomodating and unfortunately I didn't make note of that.
My aunt owns a restaurant and I asked her what she thought. Her opinion was if someone has a special diet request card proving they had wls then she would either let them order from the kids menu, or offer them half a portion of something at half price from the regular menu. She also feels that in the long run she will gain more business when word spreads that she is flexible. Especially with wls becoming more and more common.
Some of you mentioned just ordering side items. Good idea and I almost did that at Big Boy and would have avoided the whole issue. I guess I thought that with salad bar I could get a tiny bit of cottage cheese, salad, and some soup and have a well rounded meal. Especially since I'm struggling getting in that lovely protein!
Some of you also said order what you want and take the leftovers home. That is exactly what my husband said. He said to not worry about the money.
I guess I just thought that if we had a family of four and were paying 25-30 dollars they might be a little more flexible. I guess in this day and age where customer service has went bye bye and rudeness has become more frequent I'm not surprised at the reaction.
Patty, as for your question on the card.............. My surgeon's office gave me a special diet request card that states my stomach has been permanently altered to only hold a few ounces of food, etc. etc., so please allow this person to order from the kid's menu, etc.
Thanks again for your responses.
