Anybody with Priority Health insurance been approved for the surgery with a BMI lower than 55? I was approved for evaluation with a BMI of 52 but the internist at MMPC thinks PH wont approve unless the BMI is 55. Any input would be great. Thanks. Heather

Check on the left of the screein under "INSURERS" and then go to the "P''s" and then Priority Health. There you can get reviews and if necessary, ask questions of the poster. Good Luck!

Hi Heather, I had PH when I had my surgery last summer. My bmi was 53 and I had several co-morbs. They approved it almost as soon as MMPC submitted my paperwork. Do you have any co-morbids? That could make a diiference. However, I have heard that PH had tightened up on its approval rate on WLS surgery considerably over the last several months. Best of luck to you. Let me know how you come out. Hugzzz, Pam

Heather: I was approved for surgery from Priority Health with a BMI of 51. I also don't have any co-morbids. I did go through (2) supervised diets, one with MMPC and the other in Lansing but a similar program. I did hear that PH has gotten tougher with their requirements, but I was approved right away at the end of last year. My PCP did warn me that PH changed their requirements and she didn't think I would be approved. I hope that helps. Emily
