Dear fellow media friends:
I've started doing volunteer work at a place here in Weidman, called Hopewell Ranch.
Their mission is to provide a place where children with mental/emotional challenges can come for FREE equine based therapy. Currently the ranch is home to 9, soon to be 12 equine (horses/ponies), 13 rabbits, 2 goats, 9 chickens, 1 dog and 1 cat. Some of the horses are rescued which helps foster great compassion in the children.
What they do: each child receives individual attention, pairing one child, one horse and one adult. The goal of the program is to bring hope to the lives of these children and their families through support and the use of our animals at the ranch.
How we need help: in order to keep a program of this kind FREE, we rely on donations to take care of the necessary expenses that occur daily. With horses as with any living creature, there are feed, veterinary and farrier costs. Our staff continues to work on training to make our efforts better for the children. We also want to expand our facility by building an indoor arena so that we are not limited by the weather. The ranch has applied for a 501-C3 rating which is a non-profit status. This will allow all donations to be tax deductible. We are waiting for approval and expect it at any time.
****in October, we are holding a COWBOY'S BALL. I believe the date is set for October 28th.
We are in need of a country artist or two, who would be willing to "donate" their talent, time and efforts to help us raise funds for the ranch. Details will follow shortly as to the times and etc., but for now I need to gain access to talent and publicists and management so that I can possibly get some talent to perform.
The list that I am working on trying to contact is: (and even if we got 1 that would be super)
Randy Travis
Shania Twain
Tanya Tucker
Dolly Parton
Diamond Rio
Trace Adkins
Chely Wright
Confederate Railroad
Garth Brooks
Trisha Yearwood
Sara Evans
Anyone who is really just getting out there and wants to promote themselves would also be super.
Anyone who might be possibly willing to donate goods for a silent auction would be great.
If you know anyone I can contact, for any artist that might offer their time to help the ranch, please send me the names and phone numbers and I'll make the calls, or you can help set it up also.
Eventually, I'd like to ask if you would consider promoting this BALL on the radio stations with a commercial or PSA
So that we can get it out there. Once everything has come together that is. And what we can offer in exchange is maybe some free tickets to listeners??????
Do what you can to help me.
