Topic: RE: My Mexico Story with DR Kelly

Dr. Kelly does have a coordinator ... Heath ... But Dr. Kelly phones and talks to you and answers any questions .... I could also email him and he would reply ASAP ..

I did not have to give credit card info .... I paid by cheques .. One to the hospital ... One to Dr.Kelly.  I had to take a picture of these and email them to the coordinator so he could verify they were made out correctly.  I paid nothing before.

Topic: RE: Travel to Juarez?

Hi!  I had the sleeve done and I'm 12 days out.  Doing very well, I think.  No nausea or vomiting/diarrhea at all!  In a few days I can start soft foods.  I miss chewing.  My only real pain comes from my skin being irritated by the contestant changing of bandages and they also ripped off a big part of skin with surgical tape.  My incisions are healing well.  I go back to work tomorrow - I took a week after surgery off.  I'm very tired and weak, but I did just have my stomach pulled out.  My BMI was 50 with no co-mobidities, so I'm pretty healthy except being fat.  That may be why I'm healing well and doing well in general.  Surgery is never the easy way out and I am really teaching myself how to eat and drink.  I've lost 15 pounds so far, but have stalled the last few days.  I'm okay with that - the weight didn't come on overnight so I understand it will take awhile to come off.  I'm worried about saggy skin, but hey, it's better than rolls and fat dimples.  I can't wait to live a healthier and more active lifestyle!

I chose the sleeve because I didn't want my guts completely rearranged with RNY and the band has been shown to not be as effective down the line and I didn't want that thing in me and have to go for fills.

Anything else I can answer or help you with please let me know.  It really helped me to talk to people through both email and in person.  There's a great group on Facebook - Bariatric Bad Girls Club, but you're supposed to be close to pre-op or already had surgery.

Good luck to you and just be sure you know what you're getting into!

Topic: RE: I chose a Doctor! " Lopez,". Wilhemly and Alverez were on my short list of choices...

Hello Memelee504. I was reading your post and saw that you we're going for the SILS with Dr.  Lopez. I am considering the same thing but I read something about a BMI restriction with it. In reading your post I saw that we were both the same height and weigh ( I'm 5'5 284 as well) and wanted to know if they said anything to you about that. Also if you don't mind me asking what is the total price for the surgery? And is there an option to stay at Vida the whole time or does everyone go to the other hotel as well (I think I read something like that you said)? Congrats on your date! By the way your post are very positive and I appreciate that!

I travelled alone to Mexico as well, great experience. I was with Dr Lopez at Vida but I made the drive back to the U.S. with a couple girls who had Valenzuela at MI Doctor and they were very pleased :) congrats!

Topic: RE: (Long) Back home! My experience with Dr. Lopez at Vida w/ pix!

So excited for you, and thankful things went well.  Your story and pics were very insightful, and will be helpful to so many!  My only complaint from my surgery was Hospital Mi Doctor.  The night nurses were not attentive, and man, I just wish they'd sweep the floor!  The operating room was pristine, but still, after seeing the pics of Vida Hospital, it may be the one I recommend to friends.

Let the journey begin!  :-)

Hi and thanks for your inquires!  Surgery went very well and I feel amazing - only a little soreness!  The first 12 hours were the worst - gas in the left shoulder but worse yet - the DRAIN.  Oh my God it was so uncomfortable and made me feel as though I could hardly breathe and made my heart feel weird...not quite sure how to explain it.

My husband and I arrived home last night to snow!  It's so good to be home!  And thanks again for following up with me!  I really appreciate your thoughtfulness!
