I am signed up with Dr. Corvala at hospital angeles for june 23. I'm also considering Dr. Nicolson and Dr Kim in Dallas. I'm not getting support from my spouse about having the surgery in Mexico. I'm in the process of trying to determine if Dr. Corvala's VSG technique is similar to Dr. Kim's inverted gastriac sleeve technique where there are three lines of staples, a suture over the staples, then inverting the suture/staple line into the stomach and then suturing again. Apparenly that significantly reduces the chances of leaks and expansion down the road. Hospital Angeles case coordinator is saying that only three days in the hospital is generally needed. they advertise 5 days hospital stay on their website and that is what I am insisting on as I would be there alone with no other help and I'm not sure much help I will get from local doctors in my area if they find out I had my surgery in mexico. I would appreciate any posts from anyone that has recently had vsg surgery with dr. corvala on how your experience went. He is the only Doctor in Mexico that I would consider for gastriac sleeve VSG surgery. Otherwise I"m leaning towards Dr. Nicholson or Dr. kim in dallas as they have travel programs, are well respected, and the prices for the procedure in Dallas and texas in general are considerable cost than where i am from.

I had a lab-band out revision and mini gastric bypass with Dr. Jose Rodriguez. He is a fine surgeon, but things can happen. My bowel wa*****tured during the first surgery. 24 hours later I had another surgery to resect the punctured gut. All was fine, I thought.
Here's an important hing to remember: WHEN YOU GET BACK TO THE US, your regular doctor won't see you for any problems, urgent care centers won't take you, your insurance can be cancelled, and your only option is an ER that will quickly go into the $thousands since your insurance company WON'T PAY A DIME! You won't be able to get pain meds or antibiotics.
THINK ABOUT THE RISK!
Thank you so much for your help! I was able to contact her and she cleared everything up! I'm still scheduled for March 16th and I am still confident it will be a wonderful experience! Thanks again!
I just messaged with Heath...Dr. Kelly is looking into Hosptial Del Prado. Looks to be older then Angeles but still nicer than MI. Waiting to hear back in price difference 😉 If it significant I'm considering there instead of Angeles. Who is now charging $7,400 and not giving a fare exchange rate so $12 to peso instead of $14 which is an extra $300 on top of the $7,400:( I'll keep you posted.
Del Prado will be $5,900 but waiting to hear some reviews.

Hey, did you get a chance to speak to Dr. Kelly?
ive asked Heath on multiple occasions to speak to him to really make my decision but I still haven't spoke to him and will not go forward with him until I talk to him directly.
I was able to lock in the original rate at Angeles with Dr. Corvala and I can be at the hospital for all 4 days and not go to a hotel, which I definitely want to do. I personally would like to be at a hospital the whole time.
but I really would have liked Dr. kelly ::shrugs::
Hey Guys,
I spoke to Heath and He said Dr. Kelly's team is working on getting new options to keep the surgery price the same.
now, knowing this is medical tourism i'm incline to opt for a cheaper hotel in stead of a hilton suite since I'm self paid, but still want the best surgean and I'm convinced He's the right choice since no other Dr. cares about me not having to pay more than it's fair.
I'll let you know as soon as I know more.

I had the band with dr A. Ortiz in January 2007. It was truly like a spa visit for me. I've lost 175 pounds. Recently slipped back into old habits and have gained 7 pounds back but back on my "nothing white" motto.
Stay on the horse, it's a lot easier than climbing back on!
