I had surgery on 1/30/18 at Mexico Bariatric Center in Tijuana. My doctor was Dr. Louisa Valenzuela. I had previously spoken to a surgeon in the U.S. and comparing their bedside manner, Dr. Valenzuela wins that one hands down. I, too, was a little nervous about going to Mexico for surgery.....best thing I ever did. The care was excellent. If I had to do it again knowing what I know now, I would go back to Mexico every time. It was a great experience for me.
I had Mini Gastric Bypass done in Tijuana by Dr. Louisa Valenzuela on January 30, 2018. 5 months later I've lost 87 pounds and couldn't be happier with it. I originally planned to have the full Gastric Bypass done, but after speaking to the doctor, I decided on the Mini. No complications at all. It is major surgery, and there is a recovery period of about a month or a little longer where you're moving slower, and adjusting. I never had acid reflux at all. I did have diarrhea for a couple of weeks after the surgery but that was it. There are life changes......I thought it would be difficult not to be able to eat all of the foods I craved before. That hasn't been a problem. For the most part I don't even want them anymore. The changes you have to get used to is making sure to stay on track with your supplements. Kind of a pain at first, but after awhile you just get used to it and it's just part of what you do. When you do miss any of them, you feel it the next day or two, so that's important. I will tell you that I put it off for two years because of apprehension about whether I really wanted to do it or not. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. It's been a great ride, and I couldn't be happier with it. I hope it works out for you as well as it has for me.

I was sleeved 9 years ago and just returned yesterday from Mexico after having a revision to bypass. I really wanted the mal absorption factor. I used ALO Bariatrics and Dr Lopez. I have never been so pleased with an entire experience!! They were wonderful. The doctors, staff, facility were all top notch!! I have no complaints only praise! Please consulat with them, you won't be sorry!
I hope it all goes well! Yes, Please keep me posted on your experience. *Big hugs!*
I went to Dr Joya twice for revisions. The first one didn't do anything, the 2nd (I think he did a BOB) was a success. He was professional and spent time with me. Gerald was great and answered all my pre and post questions, but something happened between the relationship with he and Dr Joya's team and they aren't together anymore. That was a while ago, so maybe something has changed.

MarinaGirl, How much can one expect this to cost? I am thinking RNY for both of them one is well over 400# , the other is well over 300, ... a ball park figure..not asking exactly what you paid...but need to know for daughter and another family member...need some numbers to tell them where to start..how much they need to have saved..for this procedure...Thanks
I have only heard bad things about Dr. Mario Almanza.
OP: Are you a legitimate patient or do you work for the doctor?
