I know someone who went on a cruise in 2012 with just their birth certificate and photo ID. This person had been DENIED a passport due to owing child support. I saw the denial letter. I don't know if the person at the cruise terminal was lax that let him through or if it this new rule is not followed closely all the way around. This person was my ex, what a loser. Ha!

If I were you, I wouldn't take that chance. I applied for a passport card. It's cheaper than a passport book. I didn't expedite it and it came in the mail in 3 weeks. Good luck!!!

I had my sleeve done on June 2nd with Dr. Juan Hidalgo in Puerto Vallarta. It was a great experience and he also does a 2 year follow up with you. He's been very involved in my after care.

Well, I passed through customs with no problem.  I had my certified birth certificate, driver's license and receits that I had applied for a passport.  Sailed right through.  My driver from Mexicali Bariatric Center used the 'medical line' at the border.  I didn't even have to get out of the car....just took 2 minutes.  What a relief!   I'm sure there are exceptions and I just 'lucked out', but I'm so glad I made it through.  It was a real concern and I'm glad it's over!!!   Thanks for all the helpful posts!

Hi there. I'm from Texas and I went alone. However, I used Dr. Illan at BajaBariatrics. I had a wonderful experience. I go back home tomorrow. I didn't feel lonely on my trip. My coordinator was there every step of the way or had someone in his place if he had to step out. The nurses were wonderful and all the doctors were nice. The hospital was clean so was the hotel.
