Sorry for the late reply.Thanks so much for the info. My husband and I decided to go through the insurance process first and have it done in the U.S. I was really pushing for Mexico, but I can appreciate why it makes sense to try and have it here. I have my initial consult next Tuesday, and I will have to complete a six month supervised diet. So, let the waiting game begin. In the meantime, I'm trying to get as healthy as possible. I'm 5'6" and 297lbs. so I have some room for weight loss beforehand.

I had my sleeve done by Dr. Fernando Garcia, tijuanabariatrics.com, back in October last year. I still have a little ways to go to get to goal but I could not be happier with the results.
Anyone have experience with 'A lighter me' in Tijuana? Drs. Jesús Elías Ortiz Gómez, Jose Curiel or Mariano Covarrubias? The use Tijuana Hospital Mi Doctor. It's hard to find reviews specific for these doctors. Any help will be appreciated!
Maybe join some of the Facebook & here VSG groups and ask if anyone else will be there at the same time and you ladies can help support one another during it?
I used Long Term VSG and my surgeon was Jorge Maytorena. The best surgeon ever, nice facility and a spectacular price....$2999 all inclusive. Good luck on your journey.

I went with Dr. Maytorena and Long Term VSG. They were wonderful and my results have been even better. I went alone and they took super great care of me. Most people are afraid to use them because they have a super low price but they use the best staples and have a quaint surgical facility that was perfect for me. There aren't many bells and whistles, just great care at an affordable price. I paid $2999 and no I am not trying to sell them to anyone, I only speak about what I know. You have nothing to be nervous about! I am 10 weeks out and I'm going great, down almost 40 pounds. Valenzuela, her team and the hospital are all wonderful. Everything went so well with me that my dad decided to go get the surgery last week and he is doing great now too. Wish your daughter luck for me! You have nothing to be worried about, I have zero regrets.

I am sooo happy I ran across your post. My daughter is scheduled with Valenzuela for 07/18 and we are nervous. I would LOVE to here about your experience since you are going to the same hospital and surgeon. Anything would be great.
