Hi everyone. I thought I would stop in and share my update since I am 4 months out and almost to goal. My highest weight was 263, my surgery weight was 244, my current weight is 174, and my goal weight is 170. I did a YouTube video showing my skin issues and things like that. If anyone is interested, you can find it here............https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvyDcWxd4Gg.
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask me anything.
I had surgery with Dr. M on March 18th. My experience was great. I was one of the first to have the surgery done with LT VSG and have been nothing less than ecstatic with my results. HW 263, SW 244, CW 174 and goal weight 170. Dr. M and Ruben are great and everyone that I've met that have used them have had great experiences. :)
I had surgery with Dr. M and LT VSG and I didn't buy the insurance. It can't hurt to buy it though if you would like additional peace of mind. LT VSG offers their own and it is pretty reasonable, I believe.
Good luck on your journey and congrats on your new start.
Had a great experience. So glad that I had the sleeve surgery and couldn't afford it in the US, so Mexico was my only option for having WLS.
I'm still saving up for my VSG with Dr. M but there are actually 2 FB groups: Long Term VSG and Long Term VSG with Dr Jorge Maytorena. Ruben did an announcement not too long ago saying they offer medical tourism insurance now, he's pretty active in the group. Dr M has even made a post and liked a comment or two.
Hi Megan,
I had my procedure there by Dr. Alberto Aceves Dec 2010. Sadly Dr. Aceves died in a plane crash about a year ago. But I can share the experience with you (very positive) if interested.
Starting weight 299 lbs (date of Surgery) in 8 months I got down to 189 lbs today (7/2015) I'm up to 209 lbs.
Hope that helps.
I was sleeved Saturday July 18th in Juarez, Mexico and I flew back home Monday to Orlando with a plane change. I was fine. They sent me home with pain meds, acid reflux reducer and anitbotics. The plane ride wasn't bad. I took a pain pill prior to my flight in case things got uncomfortable.
Thank you very much! So glad I made this decision. I'm one week post op and I'm melting!! Yay!
My experience in Tijuana was great and I had no issues at all. One thing that may seem crazy is the way they drive there. OMG they drive so wild over there.
Any hints or ideas? I am thinking about medical tourism insurance in case of complications when I get home. I live up by Seattle WA. Did you buy extra insurance just for the surgery?
Thanks
