Topic: VSG in Mexico with Dr. Kelly Nov 21

I think I posted my first post in the wrong spot! Whoops!!

Hello everyone! Long time lurker, first time (okay, second now) poster.

I've got my surgery set for Saturday Nov. 21 with Dr. Kelly at the Clinica San Juan! Flying from Seattle to San Diego Friday.

Not very nervous about Mexico, but I've never been under general anesthesia and honestly that freaks me out a little. I'm just read to fast forward 2 weeks or so. Haha.

Anyone else having the surgery with Dr. Kelly this coming weekend?

My stats:

29 year old white male. Height : 5'11

Heaviest weight: 325, Current Weight: 282, Goal Weight (1): 200

Hey there. I am out and awake. There were complications during my surgery and Dr. G switched from laparoscopic to open surgery.

imagine my surprise when I seen the huge bandage.

Hi Sammy - how long to did it take Dr. Garcia to review your forms? I turned mine in to Karen today. I personally know 6 of his previous patients and he's who I am to use. I'm shooting to Jan 16 wau?

Yes, I am here alone. But so far everything has been a positive experience. I'm just ready to get to the hospital and get this done.

We just got home last night. We stayed at the Grand Hotel for the last day of recovery. As I am sure you will see it is very nice. Cold - I was cold the entire time I was in Mexico!

Are you by yourself?

If so you will be fine. Several folks were there alone.Don't be afraid to ask for pain medicine if it hurts!! They will also give you medicine for nausea as well if needed.

Dr. Gonzales was very nice. You are in good hands.

Good luck!!!

Thanks for the awesome info. I have made it to TJ. I'm in my room at the Grand Hotel. Everyone so far has been extremely nice. I leave for the Florence Hospital tomorrow morning at 8:45.

Topic: Sleeve scheduled in December - How did you all verify?

I am struggling with my decision. Baiatric surgery is not covered by my insurance. I know and have spoken with someone who had her surgery with Dr. Elias Ortiz and A Lighter Me. She had nothing but positive things to say. I scheduled my surgery and then started my research.

I would like to be able to verify that Mi Doctor Hospital has whatever licenses might be required by Mexico. I know the hospital is not JCI accredited but what about Mexico CSG Accreditation (voluntary) or SiNaCEA .

I have also checked into Dr. Elias Ortiz. One site states that he is accredited by the American College of surgeons, but when I search for him on the American College of Surgeons site; I can't find him.

I am a planner and researcher by nature. I like to know every bit of information possible. The lack of information is worrisome. How did you all work past the unknowns?
