How did it go? In my case everything went as planned.
Hello - I have been a long time on and off lurker here and on some other sites for bariatric surgery.
I have wanted to get weight loss surgery for a few years at least. I have heard all the obvious bad reviews and experiences about going to mexico for surgery.
I need help in a direction of a doctor. Leaning towards Dr Kelly as there are so many easily identifiable cases of success from patients of his all over the place, but I am not against other suggestions. Dr Ortiz sounded great until i realized that all of his US related acknowledgments are slightly fabricated or paid for in some way.
The other side of this is the fact that my friends and more importantly my wife think im gonna end up dying on the operating table or getting my organs stolen. Can you please share experiences you had with dealing with this (loved ones wise) and what you did to calm them down and get them on board with the decision.
Thanks, Josh.
Congratulations on choosing Dr. Kelly! He is an excellent surgeon. You won't be disappointed. My VSG surgery was my first surgery and all went well including the anesthesia. No problems. Good Luck! Linda

Well, I hate that your liver was too large - but I am glad it was not an error -- or something more serious!! Prayers for a speedy recovery. Please keep us posted!!
We went with Dr. Gonzales - because I was able to find good info about Florence hospital (where he operates) and he has been doing the surgery laproscopically since 1996. 4000 procedures. Reviews said good English. Just a leap of faith when all was said and done. The people we met in Tijuana that used Dr. Zalvasa were super happy too. He had a great support staff. Bariatric Pal.
Good luck - it is a hard decision for sure!
Open procedure was done because my liver was too large for the retractor. He said that he opted to go in and so it open so that the surgery was done and I didn't make a trip here for no reason. Dr. Gonzalez has been an AMAZING surgeon!!
But at least you have no leaks and can drink!!
What did he say? Why the open procedure. I sure hope all is okay!!
I have not seen Dr G yet today. I will find out what happened when he comes in. I just got back from
my swallow test and I feel like I have eaten 2 full meals. It is like being miserably full.
