I know this post is a few months old, but thank you so much for sharing your experience. I've been talking with Dr A's office for the last week or so considering the gastric sleeve. Reading stuff like this really helps put the mind at ease about making this decision!! :)

I'm looking into a surgery with Dr A as well, however I haven't seen any bad reviews! Can you share what you've read?? I have only seen good information. I've spoke with Susan at his office and she is beyond awesome!!!

Lets clear some things up.
Dr. Illan is a certified bariatric surgeon.
Dr. Illan is also a member of the ASMBS.
Bariatricpal Hospital is a full-scale hospital and has a license with the State of Baja California, Mexico.
The only way you can work at this hospital or go into an OR is if you have a current license with your listed specialty.
Dr. Illan disassociated himself with Omar 3 years ago and has been only working with Bariatricpal.
Dr. Illan is the Medical Director of the hospital which has 18 beds & 2 OR's.
Do your research before believing others pushing doctors or groups including myself.
Ask questions and make sure that those responding including myself have nothing to gain or that they are a real person.
I have had 2 rounds Of WLS and will be doing my 4th round of plastics by February of 2019 (or this is my dream have to save money). $th round will be with Dr. Mariales for leg sculpting he is amazing :)

Well, there are excellent surgeons in Mexico, (I used Dr Ramos Kelly) I have known him since 2005 and had surgery 02.28.2018 and now I have reached my goal weight. I have nothing but good things to talk about him, he is a FACS, IFASMBS and Funding Member of the Mexican College for Obesity Surgery and Metabolic Disease.

I've never heard of Dr. Carmelo. Where does he practice, which city?
I recommend Mexicali Bariatric Center for WLS. They're highly regarded on OH and other bariatric websites.
