I scheduled straight with my doctor's office, but still dealt with a coordinator.  I had my surgery back in October 2014 with Dr. Fernando Garcia.  Here is the website:

http://www.tijuanabariatrics.com/cost-and-financing

Hotel and hospital stay were including in the price of the surgery, but each doctor is different so you must ask what is included when you talk to them.  Good luck to you.

I had the gastric sleeve with Dr. Fernando Garcia in October 2014.  His prices are listed on his website:

http://www.tijuanabariatrics.com/cost-and-financing

I am very happy with the results but have not yet achieved my goal weight (15 lbs away), so I don't know anything about the long term effects.  If a doctor doesn't list the price on their website, by all means contact the coordinator and they will let you know.  Good luck on your goals.

Topic: SO EXHAUSTED

So I try to keep a day to day blog, but like everybody I some times do not have the time or power.
I really do like telling everybody how I feel and all the changes in my life.
This is also something that I like to do for me to be able to watch the differences in how I felt and how I feel now.
So I am 1 month and 9 days out I have been feeling a little sleepy the last few days.
But it is not due to the surgery, well maybe so.
The thing is that I try to do that little more everyday so I can feel better about my self.
I do not know if I over due my self if it can in any way harm my sleeve, I am not lifting stuff heavy just a lot of walking.
But every day that I wake up I say that I will walk 50 steps more than I want to.
This is really making me feel exhausted but at the same time so good about myself.
I walk around 45 min a day when before the surgery I was not even able to walk 15 min without getting sweaty, loss of breath, pain in my back and knees, and or just feel like I want to die.
i love that everyday I have that 5 min more to be able to play with my kids, I will not be able to make up for last years but I sure in the hell am going to try.
Or at least not loose any more years of their life I have missed to much of their playing time.
The thing is that kids grow so fast and I do not want to live with the fact that because I did not take care of my self my kids missed out on their mom.
That is why all this walking is worth it,it does not matter how exhausted I get my kids are my pride and joy and I do not want them to every have a grudge against me for not doing all in my power to get healthier.
You kid are only kids for so long, and i have missed so much that is why I have been pushing my self to the limit.
For those who do not know my story I had surgery 28, of November I was a self pay patient and decided to go to Mexico to have the surgery done.
I could not just jump up and say I want to go to Mexico because we all here so many stories about Mexico and even doctors.
But really I found a doctor who was a proctor for Johnson and Johnson he had done residence surgery in the U.S. ect...
To me he was the one for me it made me feel like I was going to have my surgery in Mexico but by a doctor that really knows what he is doing for the fact that he also teaches other doctors to perform Bariatric surgery.
Dr.Quinones was on the top of my list, o.k. do not get me wrong I still had to research on other doctors to see who was best for me.
The other doctors sounded pretty good but did never knock Dr.Quinones not a bit down.
He is a wonderful guy and very down to earth, him and his staff make you feel right at home.
He will answer any questions that you might have for him before the surgery just so you can feel comfortable.
I think that he did a great job on me not only did I heal fast I had barley any pain at all.
I did get heartburn and pretty bad and headache for a while and a little gas pain all over my body.
But for the gas just walk around and it will ease down, for the heartburn their is med and for the headache I just used a heat pad.
This onLy lasted about 2 or 3 weeks and now I feel GREAT.

Topic: my best option?

I am 15 years post op from an RYN gastric bypass (April 2001). I am a male, height 6'3 and at the time of my surgery I was approximately 525 pounds and 37 years old. The initial weight loss was great, and the pain of the surgery and the life style adjustment lasted a total of six months ( pain 2- 3 weeks the rest life adjustment). I went from 525lbs to 330lbs in what seemed like a blink of an eye. The automatic weight loss stopped after 18 months to 2 years after the surgery. Then my body adjusted 5 years after the surgery my weight hovered around 350-375. As of today, I am able to eat as much as I want without any gastric bypass issues. I'm no long in my 30's  I'm in my 50's and suffer from constant knee pain and borderline high blood pressure and hypertension. My present weight has remained steady over the past 3 years of a high of 330 and a low of 295 . Today, it's 305. I work out regularly and truly monitor my diet yet I remain over 300lbs. My consistent weight 3-5 years after surgery weight was was 350-375.

Within the next few months (2-3) months I am considering a cash pay revision surgery in Mexico to obtain my overall goal weight of 225lbs at 6'3. I plan to retire from my job in a month and will not be offered any medical insurance (the rage of the future for government employees).

Over the passed 10 years I have gone through numerous medical test relative to my 2001 RNY. I've had a doctor tell me he can see no restriction after numerous x-ray's and swallow tests and immediately suggest a revision sugery (that was in 2005) and another doctor who has said the test results indicate that the RYN from 2001 is working great and with diet and exercise I should be fine.

We know our bodies! The 2001 surgery, while initially effective is no longing working. I can eat anything I want, and as much I want without an issue. I've achieved my present weight only through enormous time at the gym and limited food intake, and yet I remain over 300lbs. I have maintained the vitamin regiment throughout the past 15 years and have 0 vitamin deficiencies.

I am seeking a revision surgery that will result in a 75-100 pound weight loss.

It's time for a change!

My questions to my fellow members are as follows:

1). If I choose the Mexico cash payment surgery revision surgery, how much of a total cost am I looking at for the surgery and related medical expenses. I will handle the airfare, etc. I need an approximate price for the revision surgery and only the related medical cost. I've researched a lot, yet, real world bottom line cost seems to be lacking on the internet.

2). Recommendations on doctors versed in revision surgeries from an RYN of over 10 years

3). Any and all comments and suggestions will be welcomed.

4). Thank you all for your support and good look on your journeys.

Your post is funny to me because I could have written the same thing about myself.  Scheduled February 5th.  I'm so scared and excited.  I'm worried about my tendancy to have bad luck, but screw it. What day and where is your procedure going to be?  I look at pictures of people who look great, and cant wait until that's me! Still I'm scared to death.

Hey, I chose to schedule with the Dr. Rather than the company.  It isn't a revision, just the sleeve.  I'm scheduled for Feb. 5th. I'm very nervous but I feel good about my decision and the Dr.  The cost is 5700 without airfare

WLS in 3 weeks, 2 days - and I'm scared to death! I have been waiting for this 25+ years, always a struggle with my stupid weight. Job after job I went looking for the insurance plan which would even consider this surgery and never have I found one (across 3 states, mind you) which accepted it. Now, here I am, with WLS scheduled, and I'm feeling like the dog who chases his tail and finally catches it; he doesn't know what to do with it.

I've already made peace with my maker, I think, in case things go wrong and I become an unfortunate statistic. I guess that's the only thing I'm worried about. Isn't that a horrible thing to think about? I think about it though.

I believe I could tolerate the pain without issue, though I believe there will be more pain than people have been saying. Maybe it won't be, but I'm prepared either way. I have a pretty high tolerance for pain anyway.

I'm worried about the psychological, not being able to eat for comfort anymore, but I'm sure I'll get over that with a bit of crying :). So I'm just flipping out a little inside... but this is as good as done. Flight is paid for, down payment is paid for. I'm about to get the cashier's check for the rest and the loan ppw is completed.

Now... we wait. Nervously.

you are going to be fine and happy with the results. Pain will be well managed. I have had  3 wls on mx plus dental implants and a huge round of plastic surgery and I have lived to tell about them all.

Hi! I know this is an old post, but I am looking into surgery with Dr. Ponce this month, and he is at the Florence Hospital now. Does anyone have experience with this hospital?

Thank you,

Samantha
